Chase Young Will Miss First 4 Games of Season

Torn patella tendinitis on top of the ACL tear. A doctor who commented on one guys tweet who broke the news said it’s a 12-15 month recovery.

So I guess this begs the question, should we even play him this year? At best he’s 100% in Nov, but probably not totally comfortable until December.

I hope they play this right - unlike RG3 - and don’t bring Chase back until he’s truly 100%.

I don't think you can rationalize picking up his option if you don't play him this year.

I can’t imagine them not picking up his option either way. Giving on a very talented player bc they suffered an injury that they’ve been rehabbing doesn’t make much since to me. Also, I thought that the 5th year option isn’t fully guaranteed so they aren’t stuck with it until the league year starts on the 5th year.

I think you take a giant risk not picking up his option. If he comes back and has like 15 sacks the team will be on the hook for a gigantic contract and you most certainly can't let him walk. I'm just happy they aren't rushing him back out there.

Right you made a huge investment do what you can to maximize it even if it means sacrificing games in the short term. That said this means other guys get a chance to put themselves in a position to get money because as ahead as we’ve gotten worried about paying this DL because Chase was the one everyone looked forward for these guys all need to progress to even warrant the types of deals that means we can’t afford them come their next deals

Speaking of other guys, I am seeing so much Toohill love. The guy literally does nothing when the game starts but somehow he gets a ton of media attention locally. It’s just weird

I know you like to bring up the linebackers but I honestly thought it was more egregious they didn’t sign a veteran DE to be the 3rd DE, especially since Young isn’t going to be ready to start the season.

Yep. I was thinking that earlier today. They obviously knew more about Chase’s situation so they had to know this was a possibility. It seemed like this whole off-season was basically “don’t spend any money”. I wonder if Snyder told them they couldn’t spend? Just seems odd.

And we lost a lot of our interior DL depth that was proven.

the trenches could be an interesting position group to watch this year, and maybe not in the way many are anticipating.
