IF during draft process I was blown away by a QB AND I got an insane trade offer for Fields I would consider it.

Only because that gives me a longer QB rookie deal to build a team with plus the insane capital from trading Fields.

BUT I would have to be absolutely convinced in my mind that the rookie is a franchise QB, because I believe Fields is a franchise QB.

I only consider this because we wasted a year under Nagy with a terrible O line and jacking around with Dalton all offseason and then another year with no talent around Fields

Now we are in year 3 and ready to start where we should have started long ago.

Hoping for a double trade down. There are 3 (hopefully) viable QBs in draft and more than 3 teams (hopefully) want them. If you can move out of 1 to 2 or 4 and AZ takes a defender you can then move out again to give either 2nd QB to someone at 2 or 3rd QB at 4.

Of course if AZ gets in on action QBs can go 1,2,3.  If you trade down to 4 and that happens you are likely stuck drafting.  But then you get Carter, Anderson or Tyree.  Not a bad consolation prize.  Worst case scenario to me is we stand at 1 and draft.

So Houston calls and offers #2, #12, a 2024 1st and 2025 3rd for JF1. You taking it?

Could get you Bryce Young, Jalen Carter, and Broderick Jones this year alone.

I haven't studied the QBs.  I may like Stroud better.  I may like neither.  I may like Levis.

But lets say hypothetically I really liked one and thought he could be the guy.

I would need more than that to make trade for Fields because Fields has shown he can be guy in my mind and is still really young on his rookie deal.

IF that is case I ask for #2, #12, #33  and 2024 1 and 2.  If they don't want it I stay with Fields.

Then I take my QB of choice at #1 and trade #2 for what I can get.   If I only go to #4 then I trade down again for more picks.

I would probably trade some picks for next years picks along way rather than have too big a draft class.   Could be like a crazy simulator in real life.

I would trade down again next year with extra picks in had and load up on extra high picks for years to come.

Purdy and Hurts show what an okay QB can do on a loaded roster.

That still hedges me a little on what could be a really bad decision,

Truthfully? No…

The Bears were founded in 1919 and in all those 103 years have never had a QB with the talent of Fields…do you really want to buy another lottery ticket and then have to see how it pans out given what sort of bust rate we see at QB? Not for me as tempting as the mocks that could be created would be haha.

I tried it too, but I took Stroud.  I like my QBs a little bigger.   But I don't honestly know who I would prefer.  I watched Stroud in Clemson game.   He looked pretty good to me.

Took me awhile to figure out to post image.

So basically in pretend land in that draft I just traded Fields for Carter, Johnston, Musgrave and Wright plus the two guys I draft at 1 and 2 in 2024.

And I have to pray that Stroud is good and that Fields flames out in Houston.

Not sure I would take Johnston and Musgrave - but I was basically going BPA according to board and need.

In this one after taking Stroud Fields yielded - Tyree, Paris, Musgrave, Kancey, Smith, Plus a 2024 1 and two 2's.

This draft remakes OL and DL and adds a plus TE (theoretically).  They could all bust.

Plus 3 extra top 40 or so picks next year.  All outside whatever we do in FA.

All that being said.  I still want to keep Fields.

Just a fun thought exercise.  I wouldn't hate doing above.

Wouldn't be a bad thing speaking to Young...would also be all for him speaking to some other similar QBs who have played more recently.

Good! He missed a ton of easy short routes last year so that’ll help. Also running a faster tempo offense makes sense for this type of roster
