I like Forbes but I don't think its tough. There will likely be better prospects on the board at 16.

It's a tough call, not many guys not named Sean Taylor, Ed Reed or DHall have 14 ints in 3 years started & have 6 ints returned for a TD. He's a ball hawk, it’s something this defense has lacked since DHALL tore his ACL or Achilles in when was that 2016?

Guys can put on weight, they do it all the time. He's going to be an outside corner & he didn't miss a game in the SEC in 3 years - the conference closest to the NFL in style of play & defensive play in the NCAA.

Lastly, we all know it's more of a passing league than ever before &  the NFL will continue to go more and more into a passing league. If Fred Smoot can play in a run first NFCE & NFL for an entire decade at 170-180 pounds, Forbes can play in a passing league at 165 to hopefully up to 170 to 180 pounds after being in the league for a few years.

Like, we’re literally arguing over 5-10 pounds here. And @offbyone,  Brandon Banks  was a different case bc he was short and skinny. Banks was only 5’7 & he weighed 150 pounds and even so, he was a successful NFL player, if it easnr for off the field issues he would’ve played several more years for us I think as our return man & a receiver we’d use on jet sweeps & on screens. Also, not sure if you know this but “SpeedyB” - as he's called in the CFL, he's had a great pro career in the CFL as a receiver and return man.

Anyway, regardless, the point is should be sticking to is that Forbes is bigger and longer than Banks & outweighs him by 15/16 pounds even as a rookie.

Smoot was 5'11", I don't get why you are comparing the two?

They have similar body types, they’re worry. Forbes is only an inch, maybe inch and a half taller and all that does is make Forbes longer w/ longer arms which is a great thing for a DB.

Brandon Banks (as big a fan as I was) cannot be said to have had a successful NFL career lol.

He was successful at what he did. He was one of the best return men in the NFL for a few years until off the field issues had the Shanahan’s move on from him.

I think that's moving the goal post from your original comment. He had a solid 2010 returning kick and punts, and regressed heavily each year the next two. No one else gave him a shot.

In 2011, he was 20th in PR average. He was 20th in Kick returns.

In 2012 he was 26th in the NFL in punt return average. He was 16th in kick returns.

All in all, lovable guy, didn't pan out. Wasn't successful until he went north.

Alright I guess I described it wrong. 2010 he was great & look at the yards not just the average his had 2300 Kirk return yards his first two seasons. He usually set our offense up with pretty good field position bc of that. Also, 759 punt return yards in 2 seasons.

Has anyone come close to that production as a return man that we’ve had since?

Crowder showed some promise but then had fumbling issues & was inconsistent after his rookie year.

10th in PR and 11th in KR. 1 TD.

Personally I don’t know how much can be put just on the return man, it’s not like Banks forgot how to run or his vision went away. If your blocking for the special teams gets worse & there’s no where to go then a return man can’t be successful.

He also just wasn't that great unfortunately.
