Mike Klis reports that Aaron Patrick has made the team as a core special teamer

Year after year some LB makes the team we don't expect because ST players are the hardest to scout without knowing their responsibilities.

Guess Patrick is this years equivalent.

Its a surprise, however I think we all felt as soon as Hackett was hired that Muti was a bad fit for a stretch zone system.

He's had injury problems throughout College and throughout his NFL career thus far. He also didn't play well with his opportunities last year, especially with Meinerz far outperforming him.

The fact they couldn't get any picks for him shows how the league sees his film thus far too.

I loved the pick when we made it, but yeah, this is not surprising. He was mostly bad in Shurmur’s system that should’ve been his sweet spot, there’s no way he can hang playing outside zone.

Unless he’s coming back with IR moves or to the PS that early heavy amount of PT early in pre-season might have been Paton’s attempt to showcase him for trade value.    Agree it was always a tough fit once they moved away from gap scheme to more zone.   Guess we’ll find out in next 24 hours.

We’re down to, what, 24 guys on offence? And then 11 DB’s still on the roster at this moment? The balance is a little off right now.

It sounds like Tomlinson is coming back. And the IR moves likely can restore some balance.

So Johnson makes 53-man roster then goes on IR (only way he can return).  That explains the Seth Williams cut - Johnson can be the big body guy presumably once he’s back.

That means we can bring back 3 guys.   Sounds like Purcell & Tomlinson are 2.
