Week 1 GDT: San Francisco 49ers vs Chicago Bears

Officially a week away from week 1 so I thought I would fire this thread up.

Offensively, we all know we are going to run the ball....and run the ball early and often. The interior OL has massive question marks but they should be fine in run blocking. Getting Mitchell back is going to be nice but I hope he does not get more than 15 carries. No reason to try to overextend him and potentially wear him out when he couldn't stay healthy last season. Aiyuk had a great start to camp but didn't get any looks in the joint practices vs the Vikings nor in the Texans game for those first two series. I wouldn't look too much into that but I would like to see him get some early targets. The Bears pass defense should be solid but I think we should be able to run the ball very effectively against them.

Defensively, there are still some questions on our run defense and how we can deal with a mobile runner. Fields had a VERY good game last season against us and arguably his best performance of his rookie season. I think our corners should do very well on the outside but not having Ward is going to hurt some. As long as we take away the big play and let our DL hunt, the Bears should be held in check for much of the game. Still have some fear of Fields legs and what he did last year.

I expect a tight first quarter while our offense is still getting going but we should roll once it does.

49ers 27

Bears 10

Warner & co shouldn't have a problem stopping Kmet and the run game. Mooney is the only receiver to worry about, so Moore just has to not let him by.

Bears had a sneaky good pass rush last year and JJ is one of the best DBs in the league. Gotta dominate the ground and Trey needs to be decisive..

That said, 49ers win 27-13

24-9. Warner seals it with a big pick.  Lance won’t look good, but not bad enough to lose it and the fact he takes a couple deep shots keeps the run game working for the most part. While the Niner offense won’t be exactly moving at will, the defense will dominate and everyone saying the run defense is a problem will be scratching their heads. The field position battle will help the Niners put up point on a few short drives.

I’m flying out to see this one in person, so definitely praying for no upsets and looking forward to seeing that defense fly around in person. If there’s anything I can see in person that may not be tough to see on TV, I’ll do my best to post it.

A slow start in the first half, the 49ers will take over in the 2nd half.

Offensive line (if you can call it that) will prevent Trey Lance from getting much traction in the passing game

But no worry. the 49ers defense is going to be all over the Bears.

20-10 and that's being gracious... this could easily be wipe out.

Kyle needs to get Lance in rhythm as soon as possible. One thing to note Kyle likes to do the opposite as to what defenses are expecting. I'm curious if we see Lance throwing early and often to get him going.

On the other hand, I truly expect the 49ers to run the ball and put Lance in good short-distance situations.

My guess is lance is 12-18 for 208 and 1 TD 1 int and 55 yards rushing 1 rushing TD.

49ers 24-14

Is this their 1st or 2nd year without Mack? Off seasons sure seem a lot longer now.....
