One of our group was stalked by five wolves so he backed up to a spruce tree and pulled his spare rounds. Had one at 20 yards to his left when a big black wolf popped up 15 yards away to his right. By the time he flinched, they vanished in the grass and willows. I was about 300-400 yards away and 3 groups started howling for 15-20 minutes. I'm guessing there were more than a dozen in the area.
