I think much of the same could be said about A-A-RON last week. He had 2 turnovers, no TDs, was the victim of several drops, and had an abysmal QBR in a decisive loss in which his offense scored only 7 points.

Cousins isn't in the same tier as Rodgers, so surely the occasional train wreck is to be expected.

Right, happens to the best of them. But it seems to happen to Cousins more than any other good QB on this particular day of the week. He had a lousy game but that seems said far too often on Monday night games.

Cousins has, at times, certainly folded while under the spotlight. But there have been more good games than bad from him on the national stage. During the Zimmer era it was the defense that consistently played some of their worst games in primetime. Most of those losses fall squarely on the shoulders of the coaching staff for failing to get their players ready, come up with a good game plan, and make in-game adjustments. Few QBs are going to consistently dig you out of a hole with a sieve for an offensive line, musical chairs at the OC position, a mandated emphasis on ball control, a run-run-pass game plan that leads to constant 3rd-and-longs, and an opposing defense that can be more one dimensional when protecting a lead.

Last night notwithstanding, Kirk has garnered more criticism than he deserves for the trend of primetime losses.

Just so we're clear...

I concede that it was probably a bad non call. I still contest it was hard to call live. No idea where the line judge is.

As for the illegal contact. It isn't much but it's beyond 5 yards. it going to get called, more often, than not. It's happening in every game. It's going to be the focal point for the first few weeks. Every year its like that with new rule changes.
