paul-mac
With more teams going for it on 4th and goal, or trying for 2 when down by 1 point at the end of the game, there must be so many occasions now where the QB drops back, doesn’t like what he sees, and can’t just take a sack or throw the ball away because it’s an all or nothing situation. If I’m a coach, I’d have my QB practice drop kicking the ball in such a situation. It’s effectively a second chance to kick a FG or a one point conversion when you wanted to go for it but your play call was bad. Let’s bring back the Doug Flutie drop kick in 2022. Bring back shoeless kickers as well. Edited September 14, 2022 by StatKing
wackywabbit
Interesting idea, but I feel like it's probably illegal given that 1 point and 2 point tries happen from different distances now. The kick has to happen from the 15 and this would be a way to get a shorter kick, even though the difficulty is probably higher.
