I think something kind of shocking to me is how important Brandon Scherff might have been to our oline.  I knew he was good but it appears he might have been the linchpin holding the whole thing together.

If only someone had been keeping track of our record in games without Scherff.

For the record, we’ve now lost 18 consecutive games in which Scherff didn’t take the field.**

** technically, he took the field against us during our win in Week One, but why let that stand in the way of a good stat?? 😂

Overall, we’re now 2-22 in the last 24 games we’ve played without Scherff. As I’ve always said, I can’t imagine one OG makes that much difference — but 24 games over 5 seasons is a pretty robust sample at this point.

Yeah, but, where would we put these former Panthers if we kept Scherff and Flowers?

I really just got a chance to watch the offense for the first time today. Seemed like I heard a lot of people beating up on Antonio Gibson, which I really don’t get. That kid played his nuts off. He would easily have gotten my game ball on offense — not that that’s saying much, because everyone else was terrible.

He was better than last week. I'm not sure if he is being cautious due to protecting the ball but his YPC is not great. Those stupid draw plays that Scott Turner dial up don't work either. They need to run A. Gibson out on the edge. He's doing a good job protecting the ball at least.
