Any you guys old enough to remember George Allen on the sidelines.. Licking his thumb , applauding, pacing---SHOWING EMOTION !

Even Gibbs would grab players by the collar and get in their face. I'm so sick of stoicism ! This D needs some fire.. It's not coming from JDR. Players do respond to emotion IMHO but just wishful thinking on my part- Doesn't seem to be in his character.

Though- he can be profane like after a big win last year with F----g let's go ! I'm feeling my Howard Beale side this morning I guess.

He has to show something this year & make the playoffs. If he doesn’t, he’d be gone if I was the owner. My guess is Snyder gives him a 4th year bc Rivera was a Gibbs pick, but I can’t take too much more of it. I can’t even listen to his press conferences anymore or when he’s on the radio. I just turn on music. His message has gone stale.

Heck, even Gruden gave us that.

Sub .500 record after the 15-1 season, only three winning seasons in nine years in Carolina…..coincidentally the same number of winning seasons that Bruce Allen had here.  That was with Cameron Jerrell Newton as his QB.

You get what you pay for.

And it wasn't like some of us pointed this out when he was hired or anything ...

Why the laughing? He was thought to be an available QB at a reasonable price. They inquired and apparently were working towards a deal but then backed out when he had shoulder surgery. It was due diligence with perhaps thinking they had something; instead, they turned and went for Wentz.

I like Ron Rivera….. but if we can’t get over 7 wins than he needs to go .

Five of Rivera's 11 seasons saw his team win just seven games. Amusingly, two of his four divisional crowns came when his team had just seven wins. So, expecting more than his median (and mode) win total may be asking a lot.

Win distribution

  • 5 wins (1x) = 2019 (in 12 games)
  • 6 wins (2x) = 2011, 2016
  • 7 wins (5x) = 2012, 2014 (with a tie; won NFC South, lost in divisional round), 2018, 2020 (won NFC East, lost in wild card round), 2021 (in 17 games)
  • 11 wins (1x) = 2017 (wild card, lost in wild card round)
  • 12 wins (1x) = 2013 (won NFC South, lost in divisional round)
  • 15 wins (1x) = 2015 (won NFC South, lost in Super Bowl)

Just the fact that we even wanted jimmy G in the first place .

The draft looked to be weak for QBs. The trade price for the top tier talents was going to be astronomical (and, if Russell Wilson doesn't start playing better, disastrous), assuming those players wanted to come here at all (which doesn't seem to be the case).

Garoppolo was on the block and probably for a reasonable trade value (only one year on his contract).

Would I have been happy with Jimmy G? Eh. Am I surprised they pursued him? No. Would I have pursued him first if I knew Carson Wentz was available? No, but Wentz's availability only seemed to pop up after Washington went after him.

Because they claimed Wentz was the guy they identified after their extensive QB search. Reality is he was their third choice.
