And if he fires him, it shows everyone that he's back to meddling and also that the culture (that grew to rot under him) is going back to pre-Ron levels.

But if the team is underperforming, and he failed, I don't see why this is "meddling" and not "doing what needs to be done"

Which is why I said the team has to REALLY underperform for him to fire him. It's a cost/benefits analysis. Right now the vultures are circling overhead and the owners are starting to grumble about him. Firing Rivera after a 5 or 6 win season, even if it is after Season 3, is going to cause a lot more heat as it exposes more instability questions.

But if Rivera goes 1-16 this year and starts off poorly next year? He's got enough reason to weather any negative affects of firing his coach then as anyone would expect an owner to do so.

Again, think about what situation Snyder is in right now. He doesn't want to change anything (coaches, front office, etc...) at the moment because it makes his organization look stable and on the right track (no longer a frat house, etc...). Rivera being out in front of that is that shield I was talking about. And he'll use him as long as the cost/benefit analysis says he should.

Okay, so reading this, I think we're on the same page at the end of this in the grand scheme.
