turtle28
On the play Wentz inexplicably thew it over the middle to a covered Samuel who was bracketed by 2 defenders, one who stepped infront off the pass to get an int as Wentz stared down the WR. Jay Gruden would’ve benched Wentz after that throw. He benched Kirk in 2014 in favor of Colt McCoy after Kirk threw a similar int. On the play 3 other receivers were wide open. 1. Terry was wide open to the right side if Wentz had just scanned the field for 1 second instead of staring down Samuel. 2. Logan chipped the DE & was uncovered. 3. And. McKissic was uncovered out of the backfield as well.

Got absolutely roasted on the first one, but quite a play on the second one. He’s clearly getting better. It’s just a question of whether the light ever goes on enough for him to start coming close to scratching that prodigious ceiling.

That was one of the plays where you could sort of sense Thomas telling himself to stay cool and not respond. He just trots off slowly after having been wide open with room to run.
Thaiphoon
One comment I read recently that got me thinking. We all make fun of Jerruh as the GM running things in Dallas. And even though he has his son doing things now he still meddles a little bit. So how is it that they have identified 3 QBs (Rom, Dak, and maybe Rush if he keeps going) in the past 20 years that can play pretty well and we have yet to be able to get one? We’ve had QBs who’s played pretty well in the last 20 years, they just either got hurt & weren’t the same after or we didn’t retain them. 1. Brad Johnson 2. RG3 3. Kirk Cousins 4. I’d say that Todd Collins played pretty well as a back up who had to come in and start in 2007 and helped us get to the playoffs that year. 5. I’d say that Heinicke played pretty well last year, all things considered, at least on a Cooper Rush level.

Brad = left quickly (can't blame him) Robert = wasn't that great after his rookie season when defense's figured him out (irrespective of injury he was a project QB who never had to be a pocket passer). We all know I didn't want him on the team, so I admit to my bias there. Collins = Backup. But point noted given that Rush is also a backup. Cousins = we didn't value him and ran him off as much as he wanted to run off. We were so stupid for not locking him up for $21m a year (or something like that) and only offering him $15m Heinecke = has played pretty well. But we both know that if he had IT, that we wouldn't have tried to find another QB. Of course, the logic could be that we just don't appreciate his brilliance. And I can understand that. I just disagree that he is a franchise QB. I think he's the bridge QB you play while you go get your QBOTF and coach him up. Certainly would be better playing behind our OL now though than Wentz.

I hear ya, gotta blame Dan & the people he hires in the FO for this.

Snyder was gifted Brad Johnson, yet chose to go with Jeff George instead. He could have, and should have, meddled and gotten RG3 to the bench instead of shredding his knee. I’ve always maintained that the owner has the right to meddle in big financial/personnel decisions, and he should have overruled the player and coach and never let him go back out. We also got Cousins out of the same draft, and he let Bruce play around a bit too much. Not to mention, how much draft capital over the years have we spent on trades to bring in also-rans like Brunell, Wentz, Smith, etc?

Todd Collins was brought in as basically another coach to help Saunders get his 500 page playbook over. Bonus was that he knew the offense so well that he was effective when called upon.

A backup who knows the system like Collins did is an extremely underrated player to have on the roster.

butz65
Does anyone else think our LB's are very poor? They hardly seem to make a play and I am not sold on Davis.
