Hungary Hippos

Offense: Pass-Run 40/60

Style RPO

It's Geno time! This week we face our greatest rival in Ivory Coast. To combat Ivory Coasts's impressive defense we will have a balanced RPO attack.

Passing Game:

Protection: TJ will mainly be on Leno's side of the field to help double the edge.

Pre-snap we will show WR movement to diagnose man/zone coverage. We will evenly distribute through the air to Metcalf/Lockett/Thielen in 3 Wide. We want to take some deeper shots this week and use our three playmakers to get the ball. We will also toss the ball to Mixon/Robinson occasionally either with designed routes or delayed and out. White will be used sparingly throughout the game.

When we get into 4 and 5 sets we will use Slayton and Goodwin/Isabella respectively. In those sets we will also have designed runs for the QB as to not have the defense sell out for the pass.

Near the goal line we will sports some more 2TE sets with a rotation of Bellinger and Thomas next to Hockenson. The big bodied targets will provide solid threats against Ivory's's LBing core which struggles against the pass.

Running Game: Our main focus this week is the running game. Raleigh is a sieve and they just cannot shore up their front seven and between Mixon and Robinson we expect to get a lot of chunk yardage. We will pound the rock inside, flip it out wide, as well as feature double backs 2RB/2TE sets to throw more looks at Ivory's defense.

Adding Christensen to the line adds another superior run blocker to the line (ranked 8th in the league in run blocking) helps shore up our run blocking for this game.

If Geno sees they are stacking the box, Lockett will run a seam route and we will hit him for a big play

Geno also will have the ability to tuck and run it himself to get solid yards and move the chains.

Defense:

Raleigh's big playmakers

Murray

McCaffrey

Andrews

Adams

To combat Raleigh we will be putting our safeties back (Smith on Adams side) in Cover 2, Cover 3 and Cover 4. We want to limit the down field plays to Andrews and Adams. Wilson will be playing middle to close off the mid play and be reactive to the potential runs by McCaffrey or Murray and contain Kyler as he is known for extending plays and running around in the backfield. Shaq will try to jam Andrews at the line  and follow him in coverage. As Raleigh likes to play 2 TEs, Kareem Jackson will be in instead of a LBer to key on the McCaffrey out of the backfield.

Our edge rushers will be playing contain in this matchup. We don't want Kyler to run the ball to the outside and will look force him into more stickier passing situations in the pocket instead. Dunlap will lineup against Tunsil while Ogbah lines on the right side. Harris and Flowers will rotate in.

Raleigh Firebirds

Week 3

OFFENSIVE GAME PLAN

Against Hungary this week, the Raleigh Firebirds are salivating. We see matchups all over the field that we can exploit and have success. Looking at Hungary’s secondary, I think the passing game is where we are going to attack first. We are going to start with 11 personnel and Mark Andrews split out wide as a receiver and spread this thin group out. Hungary is going to have to bracket or double Davante Adams to try and contain him. There is nobody on that defense that can cover him 1 on 1. If I see single coverage on Adams, he will get the ball, so they better be committed to doubling him. Mark Andrews has started this year on fire. Hungary has safeties that are much better in run support than coverage, so we want to run Andrews in the seams at the safeties. By playing with primarily 3 WR’s that will force the defense to spread out, and make those safeties cover someone they are ill equipped to handle. We want to run a lot of play action crossing routes and freeze up their linebackers underneath and distract them with action in the backfield wanting to spot the RB’s or Kyler and then throw behind them. Our offensive line we think can handle that very very mid defensive line. Nobody really scares us as a game wrecker in the run or pass game. We think Kyler will have time unless Hungary blitzes and then we find matchups to exploit with less people in coverage.

Our running game will be interesting with Montgomery out and McCaffrey questionable. We picked up Raheem Mostart who low key has been very good with the Dolphins. He has looked healthy and explosive. If McCaffrey can’t go, Mostart will be the primary runner with Henderson spelling him. Either way we want to work off the RPO and the read option run game with either a banged up McCaffrey or our 3rd and 4th string RB’s we want Hungary to respect Kyler’s running ability. With spreading Hungary out and nobody of relative note against my strong offensive line, we think there will be lanes to run through for our backs.

Alternative looks:

12 personnel, subbing in Robert Tonyan for Robert Woods. In that look we would split Andrews outside as a WR and then have slot WR Isisah Mckenzie and Robert Tonyan to work the middle. We also think that look will really pull a lot or resources to the outside and that will be a great opportunity to run inside and have space to create a big play.

4 Wide and Andrews: If McCaffrey is out, I’d bring in Robbie Anderson for this look, if he is in we can simply split McCaffrey out wide for this. I’d love to not only throw out of this but then see if I can find lanes for Kyler to take off and run for some gash plays in this look as well. Motioning a player from out wide into the backfield could also be fun. We could hand off or pop pass and get some one in space and stretching the defense laterally as well.

DEFENSIVE GAME PLAN

Scheme hybrid 5-1

Take away the short pass, and come after Carson Wentz. Wentz took 9 sacks last week against a very similar scheme and look vs the Eagles. We plan on rolling in defensive line personnel a lot. Here are some different variations we could use to confuse Wentz and bottle up the running game. The idea would be to rush 4 and drop someone into shallow zone and disrupt Hockenson or the RB’s in the passing game, but the offense won’t know who is coming at any given point.

Base 5-1:

DE- Onyemata NT-SJD DT- BJ Hill DE- Brandon Graham or Jermaine Johnson Rush SAM- Danielle Hunter

Onyemata and Hill are good rushing INT players that can exploit the lackluster guard play.

Run stopping;

DE- Brandon Graham NT- SJD DT- Grover Stewart DE- BJ Hill Rush SAM- Danielle Hunter

Putting in Grover in obvious running situations will really help clog up the middle.

Pass Rushing package:

DE- Hunter DT- Onyemata or Hill  Rush DT- Brandon Graham DE- Jermaine Johnson Rush SAM- Samson Ekubaum

The point is there are lots of fun combinations I can throw at Wentz and the offensive line to create chaos, sacks and turnovers.

These looks will also limit the running lanes for Mixon and or Robinson.

We feel confident in doing this because we think our CB’s will match up well against their WR’s. We plan on shadowing coverage but mixing up man and zone.

Slay will follow Metcalf

Darby will follow Lockett

Peters will follow Theilen

Mike Edwards gets the start this week. I have overlooked how good Edwards has been this season. Edwards and Diggs will be a nice interchangeable pair of safeties. We want to move and rotate our safeties post snap to give Wentz false looks to make him hold the ball (and get sacked) or throw picks.

Hopefully Shaquille Leonard makes his season debut and we would feel confident in him being the LB to cover the middle of the field. We think he could bait Wentz into a bad throw or 2 underneath. If Leonard is out again Mosley and Quay Walker will split this role

It’s moot... nice surprise seeing @PR start Geno.

Give me Raleigh in a surprisingly high scoring affair. I think Hungary's inability to run the football with a struggling Joe Mixon (who actually looks completely washed so far this season) is the major difference on offense coupled with a few defensive playmakers for Raleigh proving to be the difference down the stretch.
