I appreciate the enthusiasm, but any mock drafts should really specify how the front office plans to manage the existing players and outgoing free agents. Green Bay Packers Roster Manager | Spotrac

Free Agents:
Amos

Cobb

Lowry

Crosby

Lazard

Tonyan

Reed

Lewis

Watkins

Available Cap: -$0.5M

Required Moves:
Extend Gary

Extend Jenkins

Available moves (as I see them):

Trade Rodgers before Option bonus for 2025 triggers (costs $10M)

Cut Jones (save $10M)

Cut Bakh (saves $6M)

Restructure Clark (saves $8M)

I think this is the offseason we really begin to see the cap train coming into the station.

But to your draft, I do question why you drafted a guard in the 2nd round. It would seem that we already have a logjam along the Oline. Everything else makes sense.

You’ll be happy to know on McAfee’s  show 12  gave a shout out to Marinelli as a coach he still respects and would keep a relationship with post football. Pretty clear sign that they will have some kind of hallucenegenic colon cleanse together and he will be on this staff sometime between the bye and next training camp.

Just going to be honest here - I stopped reading after the words "pick  #29" - It's Week 5 and we're sitting at 3-1. You're a Packer fan, there's no reason that pick shouldn't be #32 at this point in time.

He couldn't get his guy at hypothetical pick #32! 😂

In this universe 3 teams, let’s  say the Viks, Pats and Bucs finally get their comeuppance for all of their illegal tampering and forfeit their frp. 29 becomes last pick of the first round.

Agreed on both points.

I question the value of a top 100 pick on guard.  Especially with two capable guards on roster (JRJ, Newman) and two current rookies that project as guards (Rhyan, Tom).  Will Gute pick an OL?  Most likely.  Will it be early?  I doubt it.

Yeah, agreed. I could see a scenario where Bakh is cut (rebuilding) and Yosh leaves in free agency where we have to draft a tackle high. But I dont see the same scenario happening at guard.

Hey! Don't accept any flack for your early mock. I think plenty of Packer fans are already thinking along the same lines. And as to your player choices --I love Grayson McCall as mid-round QB pick, but don't be surprised if he rises as high as the third round before everything is done. Your first-round pick of a safety makes excellent sense given the contract situations of Amos and Savage, but Antonio Johnson likely will go much earlier in the round. As much as I'd love to have Johnson, my guess is that when we pick near or at the end of the round we'll be looking at a safety from Alabama like Jordan Battle. Great choices for tight ends! For myself, I think the need is strong enough to justify a second-round pick at TE like Darnell Washington, Georgia, 6-7, 265. Keep up the fine work!

Savage also needs extending.

Don't see them letting AR go. He'll leave when he is ready to retire. (Also don't see any teams for him to go to now.) Jones will more likely get extended or his contract moved back to a void year. I very much doubt they let him go. Bakh is back: we'll see how well he feels at year's end. Too early to pull the plug early on his contract.

The cap is way under where it should be. It should go up a lot next year.

As to the mock draft, like others, I don't see a lineman high. It's much more likely than not that Bakh is back unless his knee goes south. But that's all about his health. We have a starting five next year and good depth going forward -- they are keeping a ridiculous eleven on the roster: the future looks good for the line. I like the idea of another receiver. Safety early seems likely.

I generally agree, but because Rodgers dead money goes up the longer the contract is on the books, I think both the Packers and Rodgers will have to sit down at the end of the year. The Packers know they've got a bit of a cap mess on their hands, so if the team does not look close this year you'd have to at least consider the option of starting on the rebuild.
