The Colts beat the Broncos 12-9 in overtime in Thursday Night Football. It was even uglier than the score might indicate.

The teams combined for no touchdowns, seven field goals, a blocked field goal, 681 yards, 15 penalties, 12 punts, six fumbles (though none were lost), four interceptions and 10 sacks. They were a combined 0-for-6 in the red zone.

While I didn't watch it, that game apparently confirms what Tom Brady indicated...and what I've said for years now, the NFL game has greatly regressed over the past 10-20 years.  And a lot of that has to do with the lack of offseason preparation...basically the first month of the regular season is what preseason used to be.  It's unfortunate, and despite the amount of being paid to air these games, while people may have it on (as the numbers may say), I'm not sure they're actually watching it.

So glad I couldn't rewatch that game. Wow. Also, Seattle must be thrilled. They are getting some early picks.

Pete probably has gotten even more re-energized to coach into his mid to late 70s because of it, as he likely feels 61 instead of the 71 he is.

Aaron Rodgers was asked whether he’d like coach Matt LaFleur to turn Rodgers loose and air it out:

“Hell yeah, of course. Matt’s kind of in a grumpy mood right now. When he gets a little bit of rest and will be in a better mood, we’ll talk about airing it out a little bit more. We’ve had halves of certain games where we’ve really played well and the other half has usually been pretty bad. We’ve got to try to put together four quarters and put on a show for the fans in the stadium. Hopefully, it will be predominately green and gold.”

LaFleur’s grumpy because of the long trip from Wisconsin to England, and the inherent disruption to the team’s schedule and routine. It will be Green Bay’s first game in London, as they’re the last team to play there.
