RedGold
Anchorage Overview: We face a very talented up and coming division foe this week in Greenland. We want to play assignment disciplined football against a good defense and attack holes in coverage. We want to stop a run game that has been on fire with our beef up front while also mixing up coverages to create confusion and turnovers in the passing game. Offense: Primary Formations will be 3 wide, 3 wide bunch, and 4 wide. We want a 60/40 pass to run ratio this week. We will utilize motions with our TE or our slot receivers to determine coverage and target our optimal matchups. Our traditional 4 wide will feature Zay Jones as the additional slot receiver. Likely and Tremble will split the TE reps. Likely will see more Move TE/H-Back usage in our 3 wide and 3 Wide Bunch while Tremble is used more as an inline TE when in the game in those formations. We will utilize combo routes and really want to provide Burrow with options at all depths of the defense. This will allow us to attack different coverages and if Greenland is focusing on loading up coverage to any one area of the field it will open up other target areas. We featured quick passes against Cuba last week so we expect Greenland to adjust some of their coverage to try and take this away. This is where we will utilize that combo routing to attack other pockets in coverage against zone. If we see the field side corner bailing we will option to quick routes and even some screens to our outside receiver to that side as they like to run their cover 6 and drop that corner so we will take advantage of getting the ball to our playmaker outside before the mid zone defender can get out and react to the flat play. They do this also by asking a deep safety to come up to cover the flat in their cover 3 man hybrid as the corner bails out, again this is giving us quick targets to utilize YAC. We will also look to utilize routes attacking the sideline in front of the deep safeties coverage and behind the up zone defenders as well as giving the slot receiver(s) routes to attack the split between the two deep safeties. With Poyer out they are going to have to play someone out of position who doesn’t have safety experience and this will give us an advantage attacking these areas Vacated zones from any blitzes will be focal areas of our attack against zone as we also utilize some rub routes against man and zone flooding out of 3 wide bunch and when we motion out slot to the same side as TE and Z receiver. We want to play to the strengths of our receivers, using Chase’s deep ability and YAC strength, Hollywood’s speed and quickness, Cooks’ veteran route running and Zay Jone’s sneaky athleticism and reliable hands in our plan of attack and route distribution. We will rotate our receivers through the slot in 3 wide to give different personnel looks and different advantages throughout the game. Our run distribution will be 65/35 Dobbins/Benjamin and we will look to take advantage of their double deep safety play and lighter box with our 3 wide/4 wide personnel spreading them out. We will run a mix of zone and power and really look to wear down Buckner inside. He’s a great player but he’s susceptible to leverage issues with his height and they don’t have a good backup for that nose position. Travon is a great athlete but he’s light for a 3-4 end and we will look to power him down as well. Backs will be used as chippers predominately to Von Miller’s side and release into the shallow zones as safety nets. We will incorporate some screens this week to combat aggressive pass rush. As well as a couple wheels when we option to quick routes on the outside to give us an upfield outside option in space if coverage screams down to the flats. Defense: Nickel defense as our base against their three wide, 4-3-4 against two tight with a Stud (Hufanga) as the third backer, Dime against 4 wide with Budda as the Dime and Hufanga at SS. Heavy zone coverage this week with press looks to disguise the zone and confuse their passer giving us turnover opportunities. Cover 2, 3, 6 plus some single high man and Cover 2 man. If they run empty and move the back out we will only play zone. Show blitz and back out, or blitz from the show, utilize delayed blitzes to help combat slow mesh. Overall we will blitz about 30% of the time. Micah will be our primary blitzer but we will utilize our other backer to blitz occasionally in his place to mix it up. Whichever is not blitzing is a middle zone spy for RPO, Slow Mesh, QB runs and disrupting the intermediate middle passing lanes. We are going with our heavy run stuffing front against a great running game. Chubb (19 pressures) and Hubbard (18) can still get after it on the outside and using Vita and Davis inside with a rotation of Gaines and Jones allows us to beef up and keep our Dline fresh. Ed Oliver will see rotation reps as well mostly on 3rd and long and clear passing situations. Hutchinson and Parsons will be used to give our starting edge players rest to keep them fresh. When Micah is in this role, Holcomb is in at his SLB role. If Micah needs a breather he will sub out on early downs for Holcomb as well. We will utilize some stunts and against 3rd and long situations we will walk Micah down to the edge and overload pressure on one side or drop him into a shallow zone robber. Against 4 wide/empty Micah will play stand up edge in place of Hubbard. We will motion nickel with the slot across formations and shift zones accordingly. Surtain will line up across from/motion with Diggs, and Ward with Lamb even in zone to disguise coverage. These are also their man assignments. We are going to utilize Fulton in the nickel this week as his run D has been very good and we like his ability to help us there as an added bonus. If Diggs or Lamb motion into the nickel though we will kick Fulton outside. We will play gap disciplined and not be over aggressive as we want to limit big plays and force their QB to try to beat us with his arm. Greeland Week long block party: the owner of Greenland decided it's time to really connect with the locals and get them amped up to be a crazy and raucous crowd on Sunday. Throughout the week the owner has brought in the top country performers of the 90's (Greenland is going through that phase now) to play at the week long block party. Saturday featured some of the premiere entertainers and really caused the town to ramp up the atmosphere. When the gates opened on GameDay everyone was let in regardless of if they had a ticket, fire codes and safety be damned. Security and police were quick to restore order but as the number of fans were close to double that of the stadium capacity, the fans were sandwiched on the sidelines and the end zones, covering every square inch of the field and the stands, a very imposing and overwhelming sight to the visiting Anchorage team. Motivation: Have fun and prove we belong Offensive Formations: 4WR/1RB (40 %), 3WR/1TE/1RB (40%), 2WR/2TE/1RB (10%), 1WR/2TE/2RB (10%) Offensive Tempo: very slow and methodical offense. We want to snap the ball late in the clock and control the time of possession through our offense. However, when Chubb or Parsons are off the field we want to play fast with no subs to make sure they stay off the field and to take advantage of that time. Designed Playcall Distribution: 40% run, 40% pass, 20% playaction TLDR: spread out Anchorage with plenty of trips and bunch formations then run the stretch zone to the outside and attack the edges of Anchorage where we feel they can be exposed. Get Watson involved with end arounds and quick screens. Push the ball to the middle of the field with slants and crossing routes to Godwin and take deeper shots with post and dig routes to Diggs and Lamb. The hot route when in man is going to be the back shoulder throws to the outside (see below). Throw in timely RB and WR screens to take advantage of Anchorage trying to pin their ears back and get to our rookie QB. Running game: Our running game this week will rely heavily on outside stretch zone runs as we want to attack the Anchorage edge guys and get Barkley to use his speed and get downhill more. We feel Chubb and Parsons are weaker in the run game then Vea and Davis, so attacking them makes more sense as it will also take the slower moving mountains in the middle of the line out of the plays more often than not. When we do run up the middle we will do so using the slow mesh RPO and even some wildcat with Barkley manning QB. To help attack Anchorage's edges we want to use Watson on a number of end arounds and touch passes as well as use him as a decoy on plays to get the backers moving away from the play at the snap. Passing game: Kenny Pickett is now at QB for us. I doubt Anchorage will be gameplanning for a superior passer to Mariota so we want to come in with a gameplan to expose this switch. We will spread out Anchorage a lot using a heavy amount of 4WR formations along with 3 WR sets. We will be using trips and bunchs a lot to help throw off the defensive coverage and give Pickett one or two routes per play that are more open due to the delayed reaction from the Anchorage CB's in deciphering the routes at the line of scrimmage. We want Godwin to build an early report with Pickett using slants and other routes across the middle, something Godwin shines at doing. We will be using Watson for the quick WR screens and even using his speed to take a couple shots deep. Diggs and Lamb will be the big targets down the field with a good dose of back shoulder throws, post, and dig routes. Pickett has a beautiful touch so when we have the chances (especially against man) we want the hot route to be the back shoulder throw. Even Surtain has has trouble defending it as last week showed We will be using our RB's as the check down option and on swing passes this will help to get Pickett comfortable early as well and then we can fake those throws and take shots deep later in the game. First series of the game: we want to establish Pickett and the pass. Defense Base Formation: 4-2-5 Pass Defense: We will be attacking Anchorage based on the scouting report that we generated. This week we want to make Burrow very uncomfortable in the pocket with plenty of zone blitzes. Burrow looks to get rattled at times when he isn't able to step up in the pocket and into his throws, so we want to use our speed and blitz, not only to sack Burrow but to also send a physical message to Anchorage that we are the real deal and to get the crowd into the game by repeatedly hitting him. As we said, we want to prevent Burrow from being able to step up/into his throws so we will come with plenty of A gap and inside blitzes this week. As for the coverage, with Pitts not being able to play for Anchorage we want to give plenty of help over the top against Chase. We want to run a plethora of coverages from man, to zone, to our hybrid, but regardless of what it is we will give help over the top against Chase. Normally we don't match up when in man, but this week we want Lattimore covering Chase, we want him to play tight all game, get physical and reserve a spot at the front of his mind. Run Defense: Anchorage has a beast for a RB and we want to shut him down early with a good amount of run blitzes to the side opposite of his alignment (called out at the line of scrimmage). We want to get up field with the blitzing and with using stunts on the d line. Gap pressure and responsibility will be key for us this week. We want to shoot the gaps off the snap and use our speed and athleticism to generate tackles for loss and get Anchorage behind the chains. Defensive rotation and formations notes: we have DT, edge, LB, and DB depth to rotate in and keep everyone well rested. As for formations, even though our base and dominant formation will be 4-2-5, we do want to sprinkle in some 3-4, 4-4, 4-3, and nickel when warranted. Halftime: Garth Brooks comes out and plays a song then tells the crowd if they get even more crazy and loud in the second half that he will play a free concert after the game Edited October 9, 2022 by RedGold

Carry on with the party Most all draft reports said he would be one of the best safeties in the draft if he couldn't make it as a corner.....so that means 1 he can play safety and 2 play it like a rockstar bc he is legit one of the best DB's in football early on this season. Give me Woolen right now playing at safety any day over McKinney or Holland Now let's get back to partying @Scoundrel

I wouldn't take woolen over either of them. Edited October 10, 2022 by wwhickok
