If they decide to trade Lamar (which I don’t think they will) they’d almost surely get as much or more from CAR than what CAR is giving the Bears in your scenario to just trade with them directly. From there, with picks 9, 22, at least one of CAR’s 2023 2s (presumably pick 39) and their own 2024 2 they could then likely get all the way to 1 if they wanted to and probably still have CAR’s 2024 1 for themselves instead of the Bears having it. That’s a way better deal for them. Also, you’re assuming Stroud is their first choice and he may not be, and they may not need to get all the way to 1 to get him anyway. The Carolina side makes a lot of sense. They’re basically trading the same (or maybe less than) they’d need to trade to us to get to 1 and take a prospect to get a known top tier commodity.
