Mikal turned into KD and Josh Okogie turned into Mikal

WhaT in the world has gotten into Josh Okogie? Can we trade you RJ and a stockpile of not-at-all heavily protected picks for him this offseason?

Every time I see a Knicks box score dude is like 1/9 from 3 or something.

The NBA All-star weekend is in desperate need of change or it's going to go the way of the Pro Bowl.

I'm on board with the idea I heard of having each team select 1 representative for the 3pt/Dunk Contest and have a huge bracket. Each team sends their best 3pt shooter and dunker and I think that would minimize guys hesitation to participate if the field was 5x larger.

Fatigue would be a issue with so many rounds, but make the 3pt contest only 3 racks per matchup, whereever the participants want to place them. Make the dunk contest the best of 2 dunks per round.

this would take approximately 14 hours to complete

It would definitely take longer, but with fewer racks/dunks per round it could be rapid fire. Point is to change the format to make it more interesting and I'm sure the NBA wouldn't mind if it was a 3-4 hour event and free up time by completely eliminating the stupid skills competition

Only 3 racks shooting per round would take 1 min per contestant and for the dunk contest put each round in a :60 sec timer which is good for 2-3 attempts

To me, the only problem is the competition. The dunk contest has turned into a bunch of super athletic no-names, and the 3pt contest gets a couple stars and then some second or third tier dudes. Even the skills contest is the Giannis squad and ... 😴

Get real all stars in these events and it instantly makes them more enjoyable, imo

True, but my theory is that if you open it up to 1 representative from each team--the 'All-Stars' would be more inclined to participate. I believe the reason for them not participating is that they dont want to hurt their 'brand' or feelings if they dont win, but if the competition is 30 guys from each team, its easier to swallow if they lose early or run out of time.

The NBA has tried everything to get All Stars to do these events, even offering them tons of money/charity if they participate but that hasnt worked. Its not a financial thing more than it is a bruised ego thing. Open up the contest to more than 4-6 people and not only will you get better dunks/competition by sheer volume but its easier to not have a bruised ego from losing if you finish 4th/30 instead of 4th/4

Is 100k to 1st the most they have offered? MLB gives $1m to the HR derby winner

I've heard Adam Silver was offering a lot more under the table to get the guys to perform aka. Lebron, Durant, ect. They still declined.

It's not a money thing but a bruised ego thing if they don't perform well with all the lights on them

I like the idea of a full scale 3 point shooting contest being a tournament bracket.  1 rep from 29 teams and the host team get 3 to make it 32.

Slot them by career or season 3 point shooting %.

Round of 32 get 30 seconds.  16 matches takes about 2 minutes each

Round of 16 get 45 seconds.  8 matches takes 2 minutes each.

Round of 8. 4 and finals get 60 seconds.

I think the wagering on that type of setup would be fantastic
