Aaron Rodgers:  “This week nobody’s gonna give us a chance going to Buffalo on Sunday Night Football. It’s a chance to get exposed. Shoot, it might be the best thing for us.”

Green Bay opened as a 10.5-point underdog to the Bills, who are coming off their bye week and hold the NFL’s number one point differential through seven week at +95. The next closest team is the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles at +56.

The Packers’ passing game has struggled all season with Rodgers trying to get on the same page with a number of new weapons in the offense. The Packers rank 18th in the NFL in passing (221 yards per game) and 23rd in points (18.3 points per game).

Random thought;

How many head coaches have coached against another head coach who they drafted/were drafted by?

That’s gonna happen when the Vikings and Patriots face each other later this year.

While not exactly the same, Bud Grant lost to his Philadelphia Eagles HC (1952) in the CFL Grey Cup in 1957 (Grant coaching the Blue Bombers, Trimble coaching the Tiger-Cats).  I'm sure there are probably some other instances, but I'd have to go back and think about HC that actually used to be NFL players, because that list can't be all that extensive.  Ron Rivera, Reich, Pederson and O'Connell are the first ones that come to my mind as current HCs (there probably are others).

Does Andy Reid have any drafted players coming up the coaching ranks?

But for the third consecutive week, Aaron Rodgers didn’t practice on Wednesday. He as been on the injury report since Week Six with a thumb injury. But he’s been a full participant in each of the last two Thursday practices. In Week Six he was a full participant on Friday, but last week he was limited on Friday.

One of his key weapons was also sidelined for Wednesday. On Monday, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said the team would have to see how receiver Allen Lazard‘s shoulder felt throughout the week after he injured it during Sunday’s loss to the Commanders.

At least on Wednesday, it wasn’t feeling good enough for him to practice, as Lazard was one of several players who didn’t practice. Linebacker Rashan Gary (concussion), cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles (ankle), and offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins (knee) also didn’t participate in the session.

But receiver Christian Watson (hamstring) got back on the field as a limited participant. He’s missed the last two games with a hamstring injury.

Allen Lazard told reporters at the team’s facility that he heard his shoulder “snap, crackle and pop” last weekend, but doesn’t think he’ll be out for a long period of time as a result of the injury. He does expect to miss this weekend’s game, however, and that will be a blow to an offense that needs all the help it can get to find its way.
