Isn’t he just another Jeff Fischer. Regular .500 coach and really nothing else.

For the Commanders, that's legitimacy.  Gruden was a .400 coach, as was Shanahan there.  In fact, in Rivera's 3 years there thus far, he has the highest winning percentage since Joe Gibbs' 2nd tenure there that ended 15 years ago.

This will be Cousins’ first trip to Washington since he left for the Vikings after the 2017 season. Cousins did play Washington in 2019 when his former team traveled to Minnesota. Cousins led the Vikings to a 19-9 win as Washington fell to 1-7 on the season. That was Jay Gruden’s final season as Washington’s head coach, but he was already fired by that point, and Bill Callahan was the interim coach. New head coach Kevin O’Connell was Washington’s offensive coordinator in 2019 when it last played the Vikings.

According to Tipico Sportsbook, the Vikings open as 3.5-point favorites over the Commanders. As for the Commanders, the Vikings will represent the best offense they’ve played during their current three-game winning streak.

During Monday's press conference, head coach Ron Rivera confirmed that the team was planning to start defensive end Chase Young's 21-day clock to return to the roster.

Young, who tore his ACL nearly a year ago, has been on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) List all season long and is expected to make his 2022 debut this weekend against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Commanders have to take things slow with Young to start. He'll be able to practice for the first time all year tomorrow. Then, the Commanders will have to make a corresponding move so they can add him to the roster.

Just because they are starting the 21-day clock doesn't mean he's going to play.  In fact, I'd suggest it's highly unlikely that he'll play, because if he's just practicing for the first time tomorrow, you're not going to throw him out there immediately, as he has to get into football game shape.  He won't be there yet.  If they were to play him, I'd consider that irresponsible.

How many snaps do you think Hockenson will get?

I'd have to think it's not going to be a lot his first week.  They probably texted him the playbook yesterday and he'll probably be at practice today, but he's got a lot of work to do.  We'll probably see a lot more Johnny Mundt this week, working in TJ for 10-15 snaps to get his feet wet...then start working him in more vs. the Bills and Cowboys.

I think Hockenson might get more reps than we expect, though less than the average fan might think. I’m sure he will have a lesser understanding of the offense than is ideal, however, blocking concepts for the scheme may not be alien to him which means he can provide some immediate benefit there. In addition, route trees are route trees, and for TE’s they are generally less expansive in comparison to a wide receiver when the TE is in line.

TJ has the playbook, which means in time he will learn the whole thing, but for this week, but this week will be limited for him.. and the whole team. While technically the entire playbook is available, teams will focus the playbook during instal to combat specific things based on the team they are playing. Teams have a basic assortment of plays that are core to their offense (Hock can get these down) and they supplement with those specific schemes/plays for their opponent (which TJ can also learn) which all boils down to a relatively limited playbook. How much he gets used will surely be based on how well he can pick up the stuff specific for this week, but I don’t think it’s outlandish to think that he’ll be able to contribute decently. Also, my gut says that KOC might throw in a play or two specifically designed around his new, shiny toy.

The Commanders are in the thick of things at 4-4 and they’ve been helped along by their punter. Tress Way has been named the NFC special teams player of the month for October.

Washington complied a 3-2 record last month with Way averaging 46.8 yards per punt and a 45.1-yard net average. His net average led the NFC. He led the league with 16 punts inside the 20 and six punts inside the 10-yard line.

as good as he is, let's all hope we get to see a lot of him this week.
