Is the problem Cincy's o-line, Burrow or a combo of both?

biggie.

Cincy's Achille's heel last season was their o-line. Safe to say Cincy probably wins the SB if Burrow wasn't sached seven times. They have made additions in the offseason, but Burrow is still among the most sacked QBs in the league.

Is the problem still the o-line or does Burrow have a weakness in pocket presence and awareness?

It's a little bit of Burrow, a decent amount of OL, and an awful lot of the scheme. Burrow does have some pocket presence issues, and is definitely very willing to hold the ball. But the OL does often get beat unreasonably quickly. And Taylor's scheme does absolutely nothing to help that OL out. A lot of empty, a lot of standard dropbacks, very little misdirection, a lot of deep routes that require either time or blind trust, which is the only reason it works with Burrow and Chase.

Biggest thing is that Burrow will hold onto the ball too long on some plays.  I'd say a good 25% of his sacks are balls that should have been thrown away.  Conversely, every now and then, one of those plays he does get away and makes a play, but it does lead to more sacks.

Would it kill him to use the TEs once in a while..

They throw to Hurst a lot this year.  Problem with the Browns matchup is that they can beat our line while only rushing the base 4.  That lets them drop 7 into coverage just about every play and there's nowhere to go with the ball.  In all the time they have seen Myles Garrett, you'd think they would have a better game plan for blocking him.  He kills us in every big situation.  Last night he tipped the first INT and later caused the fumble by stripping Burrow.

Sacks are mostly a QB stat, and Burrow has proven and straight up said that he doesn't think taking a lot of sacks is a bad thing. The Bengals OL is a problem (the FO did not build that unit correctly; they threw a bunch of money at it and hoped it would get fixed), but I think the QB is more of the problem if we are talking about sacks.

Combo imo. They seem to get enamored with the pass, and who wouldn’t with that assortment of skill players. But burrow holds onto the ball too long, and their running game gets ignored a little bit at times. But the oline is not good, so imo they need to use and abuse that tight end, establish a shorter passing game, and try to get a more consistent running attack.

In the context that he provided, yes. Holding onto the ball and trying to make a play (ultimately leading to a sack) on 3rd and 10 doesn’t matter much outside of protecting your QB from hits. Either way, you are punting.

Burrow was fine last night for the most part. The majority of his dropbacks had the ball coming out of his hands almost immediately. At some point when you’re down 2+ scores you need to hold onto the ball to try and make things happen.

I just hate this conversation... We go out nd get 4 new lineman and it's still and issue.  It's just a combination of everything.. Line sucks, Joe holds the ball too long and the play calling is suspect... just terrible

To be fair, the interior of the line has gelled nicely.   Cappa and Karras have played as advertised.  Jonah has been trash against any top DE and Collins is a mess.  Which is totally un-Bengal-like.  For years we trotted out bookend tackles while the interior struggled.

Lets be honest they were due for a regression. The healthiest team last year & they had a bunch of crazy close games break their way in the playoffs. Not discounting what they did but when a 10-7 team gets those kind of breaks you can sort of expect a falling back type season the following year
