Ever wonder how the league and sports reporting would be different if contract information was private?

Well, prior to the salary cap and open free agency, I'm pretty sure it all was.  I'm sure we'd be astonished at how little those players were paid.  The salary cap along with open free agency, for all its potential negative effects on player salary maximization, probably was a boon to their salaries and the sports reporting has also helped in that by making that info easily available to other agents and players.

Over the last few years Thielen was one of Kirks go-to targets in the redzone (30TDs over the last 3 years with the Vikes)

I really expect the lions share of these targets to go to Hockenson this season - I expect defences to do everything in their power to stop JJ leaving Hock 1on1.

What's the odd's Hock has over 9.5 TDs on the season?

T.J. Hockenson: “I knew I wanted to be here, we just had to figure out how to make that happen. Very special for me being from Iowa to be here only four hours away from home and be around family and be able able to buy into this city and understand that I’m here for a long time. That was my goal, to be here for a long time. I’m excited to play football and not have to worry about anything else.”

Through 20 games in purple Hockenson has 131 receptions, 1,200 yards, and 7 TDs. Will be fun to watch him climb the Vikings record books...

He has more receptions and yards in the last 20 games than Irv Smith has in his career. Anyway...

Let Kwesi cook

I have been somewhat critical of Hockenson going to the turf after first contact...maybe it's because I watch RedZone and don't get to see everything. Yesterday, playing through the pain of a rib injury, I will never question his toughness again.

He also took a hell of an awkward spill when the defender took his legs out from behind. I was worried he might have messed up his back with the way he folded over himself. Then he was back in making more plays. He's a warrior.

it was impressive he held on to the ball with a blind hit like that right before the goal line.
