vike daddy
Hockenson has appeared in 47 career games with 42 starts, totaling 186 catches for 2,068 yards and 15 touchdowns with Detroit. Those numbers include career highs of 67 receptions for 723 yards and six scores in 2020 to earn his first selection to the Pro Bowl. Hockenson became the first Lions tight end to make the Pro Bowl since David Sloan in 1999. This season, Hockenson has recorded 26 catches for 395 yards and three scores for his career high of 15.2 yards per catch that is the most in the NFL among qualifying tight ends. vikings.com Edited November 1, 2022 by vike daddy

JDBrocks
Just now, Heimdallr said: How does Hockenson compare to prime Rudolph? Better. He's faster and is a better blocker than prime Rudolph, and will break tackles. He's had to deal with playing in Detroit, so I anticipate his stats will start matching his talent in Minnesota.
SteelKing728
Also worth noting that Hockenson was averaging over 15 ypr this season. If he can sustain that production, we'll have opened up the offense for other players and hopefully start putting up more points. Love the move. Skol!

We’ve got to pay Jefferson too. Just hope it’s not a one year rental.

vike daddy
Vikings: A Even if Smith Jr. were healthy, they could've used help at tight end. Hockenson, meanwhile, is better than most at his position when healthy. And all the Vikings gave up to get him -- not only for 2022, but through at least 2023 on a reasonable deal -- was the equivalent of a low second-rounder. That, friends, is proof that Adofo-Mensah knows how to make a trade. Hockenson should be an instant safety valve for Kirk Cousins, helping Minnesota further its run in the NFC. Lions: D+ Detroit absolutely deserved to be dealing ahead of the deadline, but why on Earth was their big play to sell off one of their few proven building blocks? Hockenson may command a lucrative salary down the line, and he's had his own injury history, but even the draft picks they're getting are far from guaranteed to replace the former No. 8 overall pick's production. Maybe if, somehow, they turn those picks into a true franchise QB, all will be forgiven. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/t-j-hockenson-trade-grades-for-vikings-lions-minnesota-lands-former-pro-bowl-te-from-division-rival/?fbclid=IwAR3VxuTMF68g8qyOfAgs9XZHIS1IgeW6wCFrZyVVDbfyYFHWp1cjnu180YU

Sad People
Doesn’t this contract theoretically cover our supposed “window” can’t we cut Kirk for little to no dead cap after next year? IIRC people have said we have a window theoretically this year and next which lines up with some of the aging players and expiring contracts. Could be off here completely. Most of the contracts on the roster are lined up with the 2022-2023 seasons that Kirk is under contract for. Some may expire and some may have outs. Adam Thielen,Dalvin Cook, Dalvin Tomlinson, Zadarius, Patrick Peterson and Harrison Smith all have outs or voids after this season Harrison Phillips, Jordan Hicks, Eric Kendricks, and Danielle all have outs or contracts end after next season Edited November 1, 2022 by swede700
Sad People
Guess this means we don’t have to pay him either tbh. I’m fine with what we have up/ are getting back to improve our chances over the next year and a half. I’d be fine if we let him walk after next season to be brutally honest. Gross if he picks that, obviously 80 and 88 are out of the question. 81, 82, 85, and 87 would all be much better IMO!
VikeManDan
Absolutely love this move for us, should really open up the offense in both phases!!!
