Sllim Pickens
https://www.nfl.com/news/lions-trading-te-t-j-hockenson-to-vikings-for-draft-picks Hock and a 2023 4th round pick and conditional 2024 4th round pick for a 2023 2nd round pick and 2024 3rd round pick. Louis Friend
I'm confused on why Detroit is sending picks.

Agreed, maybe to get better picks in the deal. A second for Hock seems fair, so a second and 3rd for Hock and a 4th (two 4ths likely if they don't exercise his 5th year option) is better value. Louis Friend
Anyway, I'm actually glad they traded him. I didn't want to re-sign him to a large deal he hasn't earned and we got something in return for him. Just don't understand the picks.
Karnage84
The trade doesn't make a ton of sense to me. We're trading him in division and are giving up picks in the process? You have to really hope your evaluation on him as a player is correct otherwise he's going to torch us twice a year for a while.
vike daddy
seems like many Lions fans are pleased with this, and Viking fans are also. so here's to both of our teams improving!

Considering the Vikings are taking on his 5th year option salary, it was almost necessary that they get some draft picks in return, even if they are later picks. I mean the 2024 4th we send out is conditional, but still. I guess when you have 2 great games in 3.5 years, this is market value. I hope this is not our only move. Just Want A Title
The trade of TJ Hockenson and the anticipated release of Michael Brockers after this season should create about $19 million in cap space for next year. Lets hope we use it to sign at least 1 impactful free agent.

SteelKing728
I get why your team made this move. I think it was a good idea to do it now. I wonder what the gameplan is now to replace him?
