onejayhawk
It's way too early, but the Eagles have reached a milestone going undefeated for (almost) half of their season. The speculation is that they could be 14-0 for their Christmas Eve game against the Cowboys. Regardless, they appear to be the best team in the NFC this season. So, why not play the matchup game in case they meet the Chiefs early next year. The Eagles have an elite defense. That's nothing new for us. We played three of the top 10 in our first seven games--Buffalo, Tampa, and San Fransisco. Tennessee Sunday will make a 4th by FBO's rankings. For that matter, #1 Denver comes up twice. Even the other teams are solid, Colts, Cards, and Chargers all rank in the teens. Only the Raiders are weak thus far and they did not play like it. Our schedule is a defensive meat grinder yet our offense is #1 with a big gap to #2. Let's say that I would like to see Thuney, Humphrey, and Smith could do against Hargrave, Cox, and Davis. Still, the LBs are the star of the defense. If we could run at least enough to keep them at home, we could make some hay. Offensively, the Eagles are sort of like our old foe the Ravens. We won't stop them but we might turn them over. In any event, it's a playable matchup. What do you think should it come to it? Will the Eagles be the team to beat or would we have beaten the best team in the playoffs?
