RavensDefense3
it's pretty ridiculous how so many great CBs came out this past draft

To trade away a future first round pick is a risk I would never be willing to take. Mortgage our future is pretty extreme, but yeah, I certainly think it has the potential to. Considering Rodgers getting hurt in the preseason instead of when he did would have us looking at 2-3 wins on the year. And I'm agreeing with you on Thompson. Thompson's method absolutely works to bring a team to Championship level, but it doesn't work when the team is at a Championship level. You cannot sustain talent when you are constantly picking 21st to 32nd overall in the draft. What we have on the Packers roster right now is proof of that. So yeah, he should be making moves, but making moves from 29 to 11 just aren't realistic. The Pats have regularly had a top 5 roster in the NFL despite almost always drafting between 21-32. They've also had two 1st round picks stripped and had one total flop (Easley) in the last 10 years. So not only can you can be successful when drafting low in the 1st, you can be successful with low picks and having no value whatsoever from a third of them. Difference is that one team is willing to sign an abundance of veteran free agents to help their roster, and the other is insistent on following the draft and develop, getting comp picks by letting players go and retaining what homegrown talent they can. The only problem is when you have a couple weak drafts, your roster sees that in a few years, and if you won't supplement in FA, you have what happened to Green Bay the last 5 years. Not arguing with you at all. Just tired of the same old stuff in GB right now. Would love to see a middle ground between GB and the Pats for the last 5 years of Rodgers' career Some teams sign FAs to supplement rosters. Others trade up in the draft to grab the player they covet. Others make trades to fill a position of need. Then there's us lol
