Diontae Johnson traded for an early 2nd round pick (38-40)

- Pittsburgh wants control of the draft. Three picks at the top of the 2nd round.

Alex Highsmith traded for New Orleans first Rd pick (from PHI)

- Good pick. Pat yourself on the back. Bad timing. Try again.

Najee Harris traded for LA Rams 3rd Rd pick

- Bad pick. Sorry bout ya

1.03 - Antonio Johnson S Texas A&M

Steelers jersey - 27

It's so much easier to make a mock draft with him as the top selection. Also - contrarian. Generally, reaps long term rewards. Star rating - low bust factor. Also high impact versatile safety that pushes (an unseen force) downwards toward the snap of the ball that truncates the field.

What does Pittsburgh need more than anything? A secondary. Pittsburgh blacks out, forgets what happened.

1.12 - Michael Mayer TE Notre Dame

Steelers Jersey - 87

To make an offense you need players to scheme around. It's no longer schoolyard Ben make a play. Part of your gameplan is tight end screens, tight end playaction, certain players get the ball in what is known as a gameplan. Crazy, right....

A Kelce, Gronkowksi type modern day tight end.

Muth & Mayer is classic TV.

1.29 Sikai Ika NT Baylor

Steelers jersey - 92

Maybe it's just the 92 but I feel you can't sit on your hands here. Early 2nd Rd picks are gold and like first Rd picks when you look at a legitimate board, bc half of those guys shouldn't go in the first round. Even with a downtrodden NT market, he'll still be respected as a 350 pound monster that can get the quarterback.

For some reason, these three picks build on top of each other seemingly accomplish nothing. But that's what building is..

Trade details: Pittsburgh trades CHI 2nd (36th overall) and LA Rams 3rd (91st overall) for TEN 1st, 29th overall

2.35 - Zion Nelson OT Miami FL

 Steelers jersey - 72

Begrudgingly, pass on Bijan Robinson in the name of progress.

2.39 - TRADE -

IN a spot to pluck a high price name, Pittsburgh pedals the progress is my middle name diatribe and ends up in no man's land.

PIT acquired 45th and 77th picks for 39th overall (Diontae Johnson)

2.45 - BJ Thompson OLB Stephen F Austin

Steelers jersey - 98

Back in the day, in the before time, in the long long ago... They used to draft 4-3 Defensive Ends and stand them up and call them outside linebackers. Even Carlos Emmons was a good pick.

6'6" 225 should be a finished product at 250.

3.05 - Lance Boykin CB Coastal Carolina

Steelers jersey - 23

2nd six foot three defensive back. Pittsburgh blacks out - didn't even know what they did. Should we draft another? No, Pittsburgh. Let's figure out what we did and see what else we need.

3.77 - Braeden Daniels G Utah

Steelers jersey - 68

Needs some technique work but he's big and athletic. Looking for big and athletic lineman to complement our screen game 🤌

4.100

Dontay Demus JR WR Maryland

No plan, Pittsburgh. Out drafting a second split end to put behind Pickens as he's coming off an ACL tear. 6'3" with good explosion out of the slot. Not as good as Pickens outside. But both can work inside. Has good explosion in that weak side slot WR position.
