Hackett let 15 secs run off the clock there.    HOLY ****.

You save as much clock as possible there.    The ball's inside the 10.

And...THAT's why you play for the TD when you're in a tie game.

I disagree. You let as much clock run there as possible. You don't want to give the raiders any better chance to score a touchdown. Letting the clock runs means they can't run the ball. Also if the raiders were tackled inbounds with the clock running it would put them in a bind. Don't help the raiders by saving time.

Don’t know what’s worse, throwing on 3rd down coming out of the 2 minute warning or not calling timeout as soon as Jacobs is tackled inside the 10. Hackett’s clock management bad as ever.

We outplayed the Raiders tonight but boneheaded coaching screwed us.

I’m done with this team until Hackett is physically carried out of Dove Valley and banished for goods

You put your trust that the D can stop it.   And with the ball inside the 10 yard line, they're stuck to 3 plays.   If we can't stop ONE Raiders run (because that's all it gives them), we don't deserve to win.

Letting the extra 16 secs left essentially removes ALL ability to get into FG range.   You increase the # paths to win the game.    Your scenario is predicated on playing for the tie and having zero ability to win in regulation - and even worse chances to drive to even hail mary range if they do score a TD.

The win probabilities and common sense dictate you save clock there.   It's a nobrainer.   Agree to disagree.

I think I might actually hate this moron ever more than Josh McDaniels, which is saying an awful lot about how badly he’s mismanaged our team this year.

Hackett gone tonight. Bring in a respected ex player (Champ Bailey?) until the end of the season with all co-ordinators and position coaches staying in place. Then go all out to convince Dan Quinn to come next year.

I see your point. Could go either way. You're right, it does depend on how much trust you have in the defense.

Actually, with good management, with 3rd and 4 with 3:30 left before our FG you run the ball. Burn 40 seconds and still get your FG.

Again, 3rd and 10, under 2:00 you run the ball. Burn another 40 and punt.  So, the only thing that changes is 1:20 off the clock. Instead of getting the ball with 1:43 left the Raiders only have :23 at their own 22, down by 3 with no TO's.
