Anyone catch the latest Madden article?

Holy hell is it bad.

When speaking of Mark Madden, you really dont need to clarify that part.   Its entirely redundant.

The fact that he doesn't like Pickett makes me like Kenny more.

I would lurk this site on and off since 09. Decided to join once it got updated around 2017.

I remember a browns fan trolling this section after we lost to them in 09 by saying cle was about to rule this rivalry 💀

That was spush and bobbrown IIRC…spush was probably the smartest poster ever…just a jerk about it to non steeler fans.

I was here, but quiet, when a spush was around. Dude really made me keep my mouth shut because he knew what he was talking about.

2008 offseason was the giant thread with BobBrown and several other Browns fans running their mouths.   spush, myself and several others spent months debating them.    The Stains were coming off their first winning season in forever after Derek Anderson had his one hit wonder season and they drafted Brady Quinn to be their franchise QB.   They added Donte Stallworth to pair with Braylon Edwards, who BobBrown claimed would wreck our secondary and that Romeo Crennel had all the pieces needed to make an elite offense.   They traded 2nd and 3rd rd picks for situational pass rush specialist Corey Williams and lazy sloth, but occasionally good Shaun Rogers and claimed it would be a revolotionary DLine.   He claimed Eric Wright would be an elite CB.   He claimed Ben and Harrison's 2007 were both flukes and would regress.   He claimed the Steelers hadnt drafted that well in years and that Phil Savage was a top 3 GM in the league.

The guy spent the entire offseason trying to convince Steeler fans and possibly himself that the Browns were the future kings of the AFC North and the Steelers were going to regress into obscurity.   He was so embarrassingly wrong about everything that he completely disappeared in pretty early in the 2008 season and pretty sure he didnt show his face again until the Steelers lost to the Browns in 2009.    That was the closest he ever came to redemption.   When spush and I brought up everything he was wrong about, he would flat out ignore it.     I remember getting into it with the Browns forum mod at the time because I called him out on the Browns forum, and that clown used to try to ban anyone who talked remotely negative about the Browns on their forum, even though nothing I said was anything close to certain things BobBrown had said on our forum.

I had that thread bookmarked until the old site went offline.    Was funny to go back and read.  xD

I'm not going to sign off on the Bears decision to trade for Claypool, but he is a guy with untapped potential. He needs the right coaches and offense to succeed, and he wasn't getting that in Pittsburgh. I am on record that I would have tried to hold onto him for the post-Canada offense. Hopefully the Steelers  make that high second round pick count, but...Claypool himself was a 2nd rounder. And I'm far from convinced that it's going to be the right people making decisions on draft day to cash in on that pick.

He put up 50 yards in about a quarter of play today playing with a QB who is actually throwing the football with some consistency (remind me again how many of you wanted Justin Fields again).

Alot of players that fail have "untapped potential" that they never unlock due to alot of different reasons.      Claypool obviously has alot of physical talent and can be a solid football player.   I dont have much doubt he could succeed in the right offense.     However, despite his physical tools, he is a limited player.    Many of his issues are just that...HIS issues.     He doesnt use his body well and his motor runs hot and cold.      He isnt great at getting separation either.       I do think in an offense that did a better job of scheming players open, he would have more success, but for a guy valued as a 2nd round pick, you expect him to make plays on his own, and he really doesnt.       Sure, if you can get the ball in his hands, he can do some damage, and I dont think he will be completely worthless to the Bears going forward, but I dont think he will ever come close to being the player he looked like he could be his rookie year.      Teams know his weaknesses and how to play him.

As far as cashing in the 2nd we got for him....thats a risk Im willing to take.      If we dont start having better drafts in general, that extra 2nd doesnt mean much and neither would having Claypool..      This team wont be going anywhere anytime soon if they cant take advantage of the next few offseasons with likely better draft slots and more cap space.
