Jets owner Woody Johnson is reportedly the reason why Gang Green didn’t make an offer to New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr as the team set it sights on Aaron Rodgers.  This, according to NFL insider Matthew Berry.  In discussing the “buzz” going on this past weekend at the NFL scouting combine, Berry had this to say about Carr and the Jets:

As long as we are talking big-name quarterbacks, despite all the rumors of Derek Carr going to the Jets, one thing that held that up was that Jets owner Woody Johnson really wants Aaron Rodgers. So, the staff has had to be supportive of that. However, secretly, the rest of the team’s front office wanted Derek Carr. Now that Carr is reportedly signing with New Orleans, the Jets are in “Hoping for Rodgers” mode. If that doesn’t work out… who knows?

Love me some Woody Johnson

WJ still an idiot.

I didn't check on there. Just went by another reporter, but still, that price tag everyone complained about will be the norm. Price goes up every year. Inflation is out here to. lol

Maybe but 29 years old RB?  Titans can live without him even though he will be sorely missed in Nashville.

Trading Henry away signals that they're not trying to be competitive next season. He's the heart and soul of their team and offense. If that's the route that they're going to take they'd be better off getting some value for 34 year old Tannehill on the last year of his deal rather than just letting him walk next off-season.

The Jaguars already have Lawrence, the Texans/Colts are likely getting young franchise QBs this year, they need to put themselves in position to get one soon if they want to be relevant in their division going forward.

Titans still need a veteran for qb as there is no way for Malik Willis to step in and roll well.   I believe Titans will hold him on until June.

I honestly have no clue what I’d want us to do if we don’t land Rodgers and BAL puts the regular tag on Lamar.

I know this was the nightmare. This would be a classic move by the Jets. You know this will happen and they miss the window. Deep down we all thought this would be the worse and now there is a very good chance of this.

Getting involved in personnel decisions is not a dub whether you like the player or not. Its the reason this organization is a ****ing disaster.

It’s his team. If we’re gonna criticize him for getting involved and making a bad decision(Tebow) we can give him credit for making sure we avoid a mistake(Carr)

You can't make reliable QB decisions when, depending on health and other circumstances, your O-Line could be top eight or bottom eight.  The least committal action is not going to be popular but it may be best.  Draft a top swing Tackle who, if the veteran OTs return in good order, can be kicked inside.  Run more.  Buy a lottery ticket QB or two after Round #3.  Protect Mike White and hope something works out.

If the OL situation stabilizes and no QB steps forward sell the farm to move up in 2024.

I always chuckle at the ‘reports’ that come out AFTER the event takes place.

So some reporter has inside knowledge that the FO wanted Carr but WJ didn’t and he blocked the signing. Why didn’t this come out before he signed with NO? If there was a leak surely it would have happened before Carr signed with NO to put pressure on the fans to be upset etc and in turn make Woody leave the decision to JD and co.

Any leak without quotes from named people in the building is bollocks until proven otherwise. And because of Woodys history everyone just believes it to be true.

Could it not be some reporter who’s putting something out there for clicks?! Sports journalism is the easiest job on the planet. They just make **** up.
