Given that this pick was basically 3 drafts out at the time of the trade, I think protecting that pick at all would have been tough, tbh. I even mentioned that as one of the reasons for making the trade on Detroit's part at the time. If Stafford got hurt, this pick suddenly was going to be very interesting.
