New Rams coach Sean McVay is having a great year, and he’s doing it in part by calling audibles after his offense has already lined up. As noted by Steven Ruiz of For The Win, Rams quarterback Jared Goff calls a lot of plays at the line of scrimmage, but it’s actually McVay who’s calling the plays, through the NFL’s coach-to-quarterback communication system. That becomes clear when you watch this NFL-produced video about Goff, in which viewers can hear that Goff is being told which audibles to call before he calls them. The coach-to-quarterback communication system is turned off by a league official with 15 seconds remaining on the play clock, so the Rams line up quickly so that Goff, McVay and the coaches in the booth can scan the defense and still have time for McVay to relay instructions to Goff before the communications system is turned off. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/11/27/rams-line-up-quickly-so-sean-mcvay-can-call-audibles/ fwiw

RamRod
Yep. Looks like he has possession at the 1 then brings the ball back into the end zone and kneels it. Safety.

Goff has a lot to learn and if he got help from the sideline to call audible then it's not a big deal. It's not like he has the chance to have 1 year of learning an entire offense... Beside, i don't think McVay is the only coach in the NFL to use the mic to gain avantage on the field...Defense has also mic so what's the big deal ? It's funny that nobody has done this with a young QB yet. It greatly is accelerating his learning curve.

The logical explanation is that the Rams get lined up quickly, McVay relays information on what he's seeing, and then offers Goff a couple plays to choose from based on what the defense shows after the communication shuts down (although, I'm sure there are situations where he offers up a play based on a certain look). Flounch
I really like how the media cover our win against the Saints...always mentionning that we win with their 2 CB injured. But when we lose to the Vikings with our 2 CB out during the game, there's no mention of that...

They don't bring up what we were missing just that we took advantage of their injuries, which any good team should do. It's what the Vikings did to turn a 7-7 game into a win for them two weeks ago.
