GDT - Week 13 - The Bills come to town.

I'm not sure how this team is actually 6-6, but I don't have much invested in the rest of the season. Not with this offense.

Only hoping Bill will see his ways and bring in an offensive specialist externally to help run the offense next year. Because that person is currently not in the organization.

Get Mac an alpha mate. Do whatever the hell it takes. You see these elite QBs with their elite WR simplify the game and turn into a two-man show on a weekly basis, while this offense has no idea where to line up from play to play.

Cant help but feel like this was such a wasted year if Mac was to ever be the future. Now I don't even know if he is, and that's not his fault.

BB is too insular and has been for a long time. He needs to suck it up and bring in a OC that he hasn't worked with before.

We can stay in house, but we can't have our former DC and STC run the offense.

Imagine my surprise that a former DC (not a very good one at that) isn’t a good NFL offensive play caller.

who would have thought that?

Lot of revisionist history with Patricia the DC. I think SB52 left a sour taste in everyone's mouth.

Patricia had his flaws but he was a good DC. After the disaster that was 2011 the defense significantly improved under him.

Some final thoughts..

  • Josh Uche has had a great last 3-5 games.. really happy with him this season
  • Jon Jones wasn't as bad as people are saying. He's not elite but he's easily been a top 10 CB this season. You should be able to win the game holding an elite WR to 92 yards and 1 TD
  • The team really misses Barmore against elite offenses
  • Marcus Jones is awesome and needs to play more on defense
  • Jack Jones has made HUGE improvement on his tackling from the beginning of the season to now
  • Hope Meyers is ok after that huge hit
  • Happy Thornton made a couple nice catches at the end of the game after some bad drops recently. Hopefully he can carry that into a better end of the season
  • Mac is all heart.. he's never going to be elite but I'll never question his work ethic.. he's putting it all out there
  • OT overhaul incoming
  • Please .. just please overhaul the offensive coaching staff
  • Stevenson is amazing and reminds me of prime Steven Jackson

I feel bad for Mac. It was really doomed from the start this year. Between the joke of an OL, and the coordinator situation, I'm not sure what the hell Belichick was thinking.

At least this draft class is promising. I really hope they don't give up on Mac. Hire an actual OC and get the OL right should be the off-season priorities. Naturally, they will return with the same staff.

Unless they suddenly sign Lamar Jackson they aren't going to give up on Mac this offseason. They have no better option.

The only thing that could happen is drafting another middle round guy to develop.. but Richardson will probably end up going in the 2nd round even though he needs a lot of work to be a starter. That and drafting him would be admitting they should have found a way to get Fields.

Right now you've got to try and put Mac in as good of a position as possible for year 3.

I wouldn't say it's ALL we need. The LB corps could use some beefing up. Bentley can't do it all on his own. Tavai is nice, but not as an every-down player.

They need a few pieces to be a contender on defense.. but it looks like nothing because the offense is so bad.

LB -> They need ILB help.. but also Judon will be 31 next season.. it's totally possible he isn't around by the time the rebuild is completed. Would BB trade him for a haul this offseason? Who knows..

CB -> Jon Jones is a free agent.. and Myles Bryant / Jalen Mills are very replaceable

FS -> McCourty retires.. who replaces him?

DL -> Lawrence Guy is 32 .. who is his replacement?

The defense has done more than enough this year to be a playoff team... but sadly they will have plenty of holes come the offseason.

Not only a wasted year for Mac.. but potentially damaging to his career. QB's have been ruined with less happening..

Unfortunately for the Mac needs a #1 weapon theory.. nobody is going to be available. You can't get him an AJ Brown / Stephon Diggs / Tyreek Hill for his 3rd year improvement. Those guys don't exist.. the best you could get is probably an injury prone Jerry Jeudy and you really can't compare him to any of those guys. This draft also isn't nearly as talented as the last 3-4 for WR's who have elite potential.

They are in a really rough place, even if they do overhaul the coaching staff. Which I have 0 faith BB will want to do anyway because he likes to just work with his guys

I’d say the same about our defenses since he left. Under BB and whoever else he uses, it’s been good! Minus against mobile QB, but it was ever thus
