Prior to joining the Big 12, Texas as you may know was in the Southwest Conference.

The Southwest Conference would IMO make a good topic for a 30 for 30 documentary. It would cover the conference's rise in the mid-20th century then being derailed by recruiting scandals in the 1980s.

What are the keys to the Tom Herman Offense?

His ability to build chemistry.

It took a little longer then expected but then again Texas and it's politics I think got in the way alot, along with old habits.

Right now the biggest strength of the offense is it's insanely athletic receiving core. Both Colin Johnson and possibly Lil'Jordan Humphrey could be first round prospects come next April.

What are the key plays/concepts in the scheme?

It's really just a typical spread offense that has the added bonus of pulling off trick plays better then most. That is mainly due to the athletic talent at the WR position.

Lil'Jordan who I compare alot with Cordelle Patterson is a jack-of-all-trades when running routes. Has 4.5 40 speed and his original position in highschool was the RB position. He has the ability and has been used in the wildcat formation, end arounds, flea flickers, and a number of other things that keeps teams guessing. He has shown to pull off all of these plays very successfully while showing the ability to go over the middle and be a true posession receiver. Really he has been our most impressive player on the offense.

Jerrod Heard is another one, our former QB from a few years ago who switched positions, we use him in many of the same roles that Lil'Jordan does but this guy has a legit 4.3 speed when running routes.

Andrew Beck who is one of the few In-Line TE's has the added ability to be a nickle and dime threat who knows how to find soft spots in this defense.

But really the biggest thing that had Texas taking off this year was the massively improved blocking of our offensive line as well as Deontay Ingram emergence as a legit break away threat from the backfield at the RB position. He has been getting knicked up but overall is a one cut slasher that keeps teams from throwing more coverage on our receivers. Our bread and butter right now is the ability to dominate the middle of the field with our passing game our slot receivers as well as our 2 outside guys really excel in going over the middle on slant routes and setting passing lanes for others to burn through. So long as we keep improving on this we should remain unbeaten for the rest of the year.
