He wanted to be treated as a guy that could operate from the pocket, which Seattle wouldn’t allow. We are seeing what that looks like. He’s a backyard style QB, who needs support but Denver is honoring his wishes and trying to let him be a pocket passer. That’s not his strength. That's almost a perfect post. Pretty understated though. He's a great backyard QB and an absolutely terrible pocket QB.

I'd agree with that, but if you watch the broncos o-line attempt to pick up blitzes this year they often decide to let the inside man through scotch free at a shockingly high rate which leads to some blitzes that are pretty much impossible to make anything out of as a quarterback. Won't argue with you on the fact that Russ certainly isn't an elite pocket passer though and seems to be a step slower this year and not able to improvise when he does try. 1234567
Loved seeing Jerry Jeudy freak out and start screaming. We’ve all had enough of this garbage. Then he turned around, focused that anger and blew up for 3 touchdowns. Looked completely unstoppable out there. Maybe, just maybe this game can act as a catalyst. But it’s going to require Wilson to be willing to keep playing sandlot football instead of this Peyton Manning charade he’s been attempting to do all season. If I’m Rypien, I’m looking for Jeudy in man coverage 10 times per game moving forward if Wilson can’t go.

His team is down 27-14 after his “heroics.” Total me-first POS. George should have moved him at the deadline. The dude got angry and balled out. First ppl criticize him for not caring. Then he gets upset and carried the O. I don’t know what you want from him. He had 20 snaps last week, played when he wasn’t even close to 100 percent with 1 practice and went 4/65. Today down 27-0 he got angry and then went out and smoked the coverage - even when they started to double him. Jeudy’s progress should be one of the bright spots fans can look forward to next year. I get this was probably reactionary and in game but the perception needs to shift. It’s taken longer than fans wanted but this is something you want to build off. If I’m Rypien, I’m looking for Jeudy in man coverage 10 times per game moving forward if Wilson can’t go. The 2nd catch was a thing of beauty - he beat bracket coverage and juked 2 ways to beat the LB and then safety. The big diff is Russ trusted the throw to be where Jeudy was headed. We need to see more of that (the 5th catch that was the 14 yard slant another example). EDIT: I found a video - watch how he sets up BOTH the LB and DB, against clear double coverage sent his way. Thing of beauty. If I can find the stick route in 2H, I'll post that too. The other advantage to going Jeudy’s way more - Jeudy will keep drawing more attention and that will let Dulcich / Sutton (when he’s back) have more advantageous matchups / ISO’s to exploit. The metrics have been pointing to this. The film breakdown as well. We still need a legit WR3 and a threat at RB (Mack isn’t it that’s a right place - right time) situation. But Jeudy as our WR1 can easily work. I have to say the fact the O succeeded even when KC knew we had to pass and the OL was so awful (again) - that actually gives me more hope there’s a fix for 2023. I’ll take angry, passionate Jerry Jeudy all day long. That’s the guy I thought we drafted. They had absolutely no answer for him once he got pissed and went off. And had they not let it get to 27-0 before they all finally woke up, we would have had a very real chance of beating KC today.

I'd rather see someone with a little fire, to be completely honest. Have we seen anything like that out of Sutton?

champ11
Yeah, the numbers back Jerry being pretty solid and that was a really good performance. I've talked crap, but the guy deserves a lot of props for that performance. One of the few offensive players that has flashed.
jolly red giant
The offence scored four TDs against the Chiefs - any way you look at the that is a major improvement on what we have seen all season. Wilson deserves credit - and Jeudy deserves credit (and the defence as well despite the 34 points they allowed). You have to wonder what happened when the deficit went to 27 points - because Hackett was clearly playing a damage limitation exercise up to that point. Did Kubiak open up the playbook - did Wilson say to hell with this and decide to 'cook' - did the offence as a unit just get fed up of going three and out - did Paton leaking stuff about Wilson losing some of the locker room light a fire under him - or was it simply the Chiefs taking the foot off the gas. The one person I don't think was responsible for the improved offensive play is Hackett - he has shown nothing to suggest it. The unfortunate thing is that if Wilson hadn't been injured the Broncos could well have won the game - and that would have been a major upset given the season so far. The Chiefs can count themselves lucky. Also - if things have finally clicked with Jeudy he could become a seriously good WR in the NFL and that would be a major thing for the Broncos going forward. It will show up on the film - but I’m pretty sure Jeudy was doubled most of the game (outside of the 1st TD). Jeudy mentioned it in the post-game. I can’t be sure but Russ just may have decided to start looking his way when with the double coverage. That 2nd catch I was referring to shows this in spades; as does the stick route later on (Russ throws it in the window before the S arrives). Broncofan
BTW, as another example of how simple and basic Hackett is as an OC.....it's taken him 14 weeks to realize that maybe you should move your best WR's around. And hey, when Jeudy/Sutton are back together, maybe move them around. Especially when the gap between Jeudy/Sutton and everyone else is a massive gulf...well, smh. I'm happy that they've figured this out, but on the flip side, man, if it took him 14 weeks to see this was necessary - I don't know how ppl think Hackett isn't a massive part of the O's struggles (not absolving the OL or Wilson, either - but ppl who think it's all Wilson....every time Hackett opens his mouth, he adds more proof).
