OFFENSE

It's playoff time so it's time to get serious. We will be using a multitude of formations as we brought a lot of skill position depth today. There will be 2 and ever 3 TE sets, the latter more in short yardage but our focus will be on 2 RBs sets and 3/4 WR sets. We have Conner and Foreman who can pound the rock so we want one of them to be on the field as often as possible but we also want to use Kamara to the most of his abilities. Kamara will some runs but we primarily want to use him for his ability as a receiver. We feel he and Singletary will make a great compliment to Conner and Foreman. This week we want to establish the pass game with the RB game. Most of the early game will be running the ball, starting with pounding it inside, off Bitonio, and passing it short to Kamara/Singletary with short crossing amd spacing routes to our WRs and Kittle blocking more often than not. Deebo Samuel or DJ Moore will usually be in motion to either get or fake a possible reverse or to get into a new lane for a mismatch. As the game develops we will open up the play-action and RPOs to get Josh Allen's legs and arm more involved, as well as our TEs in receiving. We want to attack the seams and finds the gaps in the linebackers while keeping their DBs away from the play or forcing them to play 1-on-1. For this we will be focusing on the Drive concept (below are a few examples of a play with and without the TE blocking) and twins with the hi-lo flood and wolf to leverage the coverage.

DEFENSE

We need to respect Rome passing and rushing game so we actually have to maine lineups prepared on defense today. The first is the nickel formation you can see in the starting lineup for we'll use when they go receiver heavy but we need to respect Swift and Harris so we also have Kirksey or Scott coming in at LB to make sure we can stuff the run. We won't be scared to sub in a beefier front at times too. It would be a chame to keep Christian Wilkins on the bench too much; He, Simmons, Jarrett and Wise could all see the field together with Bosa as a standup LB near the line and our other LBs watching/attacking the gaps if they really want to run the ball, but we moreso think they'll want to keep it balanced and if they do we just need 3 of them rotating along with Bosa or Hughes so we can keep an extra LB or Corner in coverage. In the secondary we want to go with a hydrid coverage. Our outside corners will be playing primarily man while we keep zone in the middle of the field and our safeties will be providing support to both, mainly in zone but could go in man when more recievers become involved. More support will be given to Lenoir due to his inexperience but he did well vs Hopkins.

Motivation

Flint clearly threw their game last week to play us so we have all the bulletin board  material we need     Not to mention their team has to be mystified as to whether what the hell they are doing.  The entire offense we heard is pissed that it was the Kyle Rudolph show last week

Offense

This week we go back to our air raid offense against a squad we don't think has the secondary to be able to stop it

We are lining Cooper and Palmer on the outside with Juju and Waddle inside. Juju will be the motion man into trips on most plays so we can get a read on the type of defense we are opposing.

Before I begin, yes I know Raimann hasn't been been awesome but he's actually improved a lot lately and is really good once he gets his hands on the defender so we ate going to be helping him with that at the RB is going to to chip in on his side every passing play before starting his route.   We love the rest of the our o line with BDLs best guard tandem and Ramcyk being his studly self on the other side

In man we are going to target the third and fourth CB from  Flint mercilessly inside with slants, corner routes and go's from Juju and Waddle. We are going to use some rub routes out of the trips to help Waddle get a step and once he does, the CB won't be catching him.   We won't go after Bradbury a lot but our other WR will be peppered with balls.   We also will run a couple of RB screens together slow down the pass rush and get our athletic line in front of our RB.   However with their secondary problems, we can't forsee them trying to to play much man coverage

If the motion shows us zone we are going too hit WR screens as well as run our zone buster seams and Floods.  If we see the cover two high safeties in a zone we know to run vertical on the outside and a post from the Waddle to force the safeties to pick a deep and route to the cover. Once they do Herbert has the gun to hit a streaking WR in space.   In the single high cover three zone, you know to hit the seams and the flats to make whoever the third and fourth corner are tackle in space.  We also have Swift and Harris to be our check down option after they chip as they both are excellent pass catchers and can make plays.  We also will let DeSean come do a DeSean things once or twice and take a deep shot

Of course we can't just be one dimensional.  We will still run some draws and off tackle plays.  Once we see the defense turning their ears back to get after Herbert, we feel the draws will be especially deadly. The screen game will serve as an extension of the run game.  In short distances we bring in the heavy package with two TE and Ricard with Harris plowing for those two yards. We also want to get our Taysom hill package rolling in the redzone on occasion just to make sure they are prepared for it, which we doubt they'll even mention.  Swift will get about a 60-40 splits this week with Harris in our other packages.

So help the LT,, attack the secondary, move the chains and trust the QB

Defense

This week we are somewhat switching up what we do and are playing primarily a zone based cover three defense.  We do this for two reason's. 1.  We don't want to have our backs turned often to Josh Allen and 2. Because forcing long drives gets Josh Allen into the red zone where he has been a hott mess completing just 48% of the his passed while throwing a league worst 5 interceptions.

This week we promote Jaelan Phillips to run with the ones lined up against Tytus Howard. Why? Might you ask. Lined up against Howard two weeks ago, Phillips had one of the best games of his young career. He notched a sack and three other pressures on only 23 pass-rushing snaps.  We look for a him to continue that dominance here while Matt Judon faced Armstead week one and came away with five tackle, a sack and a couple pressures of his own. With this tandem plus Justin Houston and Carl Lawson, we feel we should see going to put extreme pressure on Josh Allen from the edge and force him to step up in the pocket without escaping as our two big mountains in the middle eat up space and will be maintain their lane.  On long down and distances we are going four DE with Houston and Lawson playing DT.  Houston will drop in for either edge needing a rest with Washington getting some run for the big boys as needed    On the interior, AJ Cann has not been good for this year so we look too get him one on one by lining our other DT in between the C and LG

In the running game, Alvin Kamara has averaged barely three yards a carry over the past month and our interior and LB are stout against the run. With the cover three /cover one look we'll have an extra safety in the box and that should suffice against the run game. We don't plan on doing anything fancy here. The outside corners have no run responsibilities to the make sure we allow zero long gains on any play action

While we will play majority cover three, we will still blend in some cover one. Humphrey and Dean as outside CB with Reed in the slot. For these plays Bolton will be the spy/robber with Milano grabbing Kamara  and Hamilton guarding Kittle with Hooker deep.  Rodgers on the for four wide replacing Bolton with Milano moving to the under robber /spy.   Campbell is the third LB for Reed in traditional formations.

We also will show a rare cover two zone and man look though that will be few and far more between.  We also have will occasionally blitz a LB while dropping an edge DT(see DL rotation above) into zone in long down and distances to the Allen right to make sure he doesn't extend plays to his strong side

Just for clarity, they didnt throw the game last week to play Rome. They, imo, threw the game to make sure there was no way they'd play Anchorage.

The odds of playing him were pretty 50-50 because him and Ivory Coast played last week and it was a 50-50 matchup. Actually the odds of playing him were slightly lower by losing because I could only play Anchorage by losing. He's just trying to get votes against by having people think I'm evil. To what I said earlier, the only way to definitely avoid Anchorage was by winning last week. It was my only real incentive to write one last week but I took the risk. Plus I really had no time to write one in the last couple days before the deadline or I would have put something legitimate.

If you had time to submit anything you had time to not start 7 CB and run the entire offense through Kyle Rudolph. Just saying

That took no time whatsoever. A proper gameplan to beat a team as good as DV isn't going to happen that quickly. I can rest if I wanted. It's not like tanking for a better draft pick. I earned the right to not have to scramble for a gameplan when I don't have much time. This week I really had to find time to do it and did.

Again, it takes zero more time to at least start a legit lineup

Anyone judging this matchup based on last week's write up is f****** stupid. It was a throwaway week

I dont think anyone is judging this based on last week, but 2 things; theres never a good excuse for 'mailing it in' outside of significant RL issues/situations.

Secondly, even though ppl want to suggest it was a throw away week, it wasnt. What it did do was screw Cancun out of the oppoetunity to win the division. Also, Flint is scared to death of Anchorage.
