You could cut him and resign him for half the price of that next year salary, if you were insistent on trying to keep him. Okay, but I think we’re overestimating the standard he has to meet in order to still represent an upgrade here. Taylor is averaging 206 yards per start this season, and he’s thrown for under 202 yards in 5 of his 9 starts. I mean, in fairness, two of those games were against PHI and DAL (who both ate our OL alive) — and he played much of the fourth game with a broken finger. He was absolutely terrible in those 3 games, no doubt about that. But odds are that circumstances will be rather different for these last two games — and for the playoff opener against MIN, were we to get there. None of those teams are going to comprehensively destroy our OL like we saw in those two hideous division games, unless for some reason DAL is playing their stars. rizzy
I think the biggest reason for the change wasn't the turnovers(like you guys have pointed out Wentz turns the ball over as well) but the lack of scoring especially in the redzone. I can't find it now but saw a stat where he was ranked like 727 out of 770 players the last 5 years in the area. Point blank we can't keep playing these games where every possible thing has to go right or we are incapable of scoring enough to win. Has Wentz improved with the time off I don't know but I know it's the only way we can beat a team in the playoffs that doesn't beat themselves. Found the link https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/12/19/commanders-red-zone/ "Inside the low red zone, Heinicke has completed just 8 of 24 attempts (33.3 percent). It is the lowest mark in the NFL by nearly 10 percent. Since 2000, out of 752 qualified quarterback seasons, Heinicke’s completion percentage this year is tied for 727th." I just can’t believe people genuinely have convinced themselves this team going from a total disaster, dead in the water 2-4 to being the 7th seed in the playoffs was a total coincidence and had nothing to do with Wentz leaving the lineup. Do you not do the exact same thing with Heinicke? You blamed the Oline for his fumble and you blamed Robinson for his interception.

If Carson wins just 1 of the last two games & we don’t make the playoffs but he plays well, Rivera will keep him & restructure Wentz’s contract. Rivera wants to be right about Carson more than anything right now. He wants to prove that Carson is a good talented kid & he can fix him when the Eagles & Colts couldn’t/gave up on Carson too quick. Basically, Rivera wants to be right on Carson & prove others wrong. He’s determined to do that & I think Carson will be back next year on a restructured contract. If Carson is back, it probably means that Heinicke is gone though.

I said during the game the interception was on Heinicke but I felt Robinson most likely stopped his route when he shouldn't have. Heinicke still threw its on him. Look, I have no issues with moving away from Heinicke but I'd rather see what Howell has than have them hitch their wagons to the mess that is Carson Wentz.

The fumbles they Heinicke had had which aren’t in his throwing motion on him. For example the fumble Heinicke had at the NYG 10 yard line in the second NYG game was on Carson. The fumble around our goal-line where Thibodeaux scored the TD after he recovered it wasn’t on Heinicke unless he changed the Protection & should’ve gotten the ball out hot which, some have said that was the case but I don’t know if that true or not. The int Heinicke threw on his pass to BRob was a miscommunication between BRob & Heinicke. BRob sat down on the route while Heinicke expected him to keep moving. We'll see if he is able to able to be more effective in this version of the Offense hopefully having seen TH operate it while on the bench. We don't know how ready Howell is but it was clear after the Giants games that they needed to move on from TH.

So much so that he benched Carson for much longer than his injury because we were winning. I don't buy this take at all.
