Should Dallas draft a QB high in the draft?

Any QB that comes into that situation isn't going to be needed to carry the offense behind that OL and Elliot.  While yes, it'd obviously be nice to have Brady/Rodgers or even a guy like Rivers/Ben there, you can't account for everyone getting hurt when building a team.  Right now they need to improve and look into replacing Witten.   Dak has shown he's more than capable of being a high end game manager.   And it shouldn't be understated he's had two games against two elite pass rushes, plus one game where Tyron Smith went out and his backup gave up six sacks.

If Brady gets hurt the Patriots are cooked and that's just how it is.  If the Elliot gets hurt then the Cowboys are cooked and that's just how it is.

Its amazing what happens when a team loses its best player.

I feel like this is about as bad a question as those asking if TT should be fired because Aaron Rodgers got hurt...

It's up there. It's not "LT is overrated because he might get injured," bad, but it's pretty bad.

Hell yeah. This guy has finally been exposed. Sure he looked all world with that great OL. Once it comes back to the pack as far as talent, its over for this guy. He's not good.

Yes, a 24 old QB in his second year who had a great rookie season has "been exposed" because he isnt ready to carry his team yet.

It was fans like you who were calling Jared Goff and Todd Gurley a bust after last season.

I mean, I don't think it's as crazy as you're selling.  Dak has been awful without the OL and RB carrying him.

If an affordable upgrade comes, it's not out of the question to go with.  Especially down the road when Dak's contract runs out.

Right now with how the teams built and their cap situation, just gotta stick with Dak and lean on Elliot/OL and hope it holds up.

Right now, the Cowboys are 5-6 and slotted to pick 15th.  In general, you need to have 6 or less wins to secure a top 10 pick.  Do you believe that the Cowboys are going to win no more than 1 game down the stretch?  Prescott was always overrated in my eyes, but you don't replace him based on a 2-3 game stretch.

He's a 2nd year player on a 4th round pick contract. A highly drafted QB would immediately make more.

You want to bring this up a few years down the line, sure. But this is a knee jerk reaction to a bad series of games, and it's incredibly lazy as a fan to suggest the Cowboys need to address this during the off-season.

They didnt "carry" him.   They made life for a young, raw QB who was still developing easier, but they didnt carry him.    The Cowboys wouldve never went as far as they did last year with a backup caliber QB last year, even with Elliot and that OLine.

Its absolutely laughable to suggest the Cowboys should draft a QB in the early rounds.

???

If they were to draft a QB in the late round and they turned out to be notably better than Dak, then sure.

Suggesting that its within reason for the Cowboys to draft a QB early this year is absolutely idiotic.

Or how about, beyond Elliot and that OLine, just give a young, still developing QB time to develop, instead of labeling them a bust after one bad season.

I question how much some of you actually watched Dak last year to claim that he was "carried" by the OLine and Elliot.    Its funny that every time a young QB struggles, people want to push false narratives.   I still remember back in 2006, alot of fans were trying to say Ben was nothing but a game manager because he struggled when they started asking him to pass more in 2006, without even considering that the OLine was terrible and he was messed up all year because of his motorcycle accident.

Dak is fine.    Am I saying he is going to be elite?  No.  Am I saying he is going to be the Cowboys starter for the next 10 years?  No.  Im saying that, as of right now,  there is absolutely no reason for any logical, level headed person to claim the Cowboys should look for a replacement at this point.

Priorities, from the outside;

  • Address the situation that whenever Lee gets injured (which is almost every season) their defense turns into Swiss cheese, and looks an uninspired collection of rigor mortis.
  • Find out if you can get a better HC than Jason. I mean, once again, he had no answers or adjustments. Did he even open his mouth?....
  • OL depth is lacking
  • Receivers and Tight End are either old, on the wane, or both
  • Secondary needs upgrading

So all of that should keep them busy, and Dak gets to keep his job

Dak is the second coming of Alex Smith, he cannot carry a team on his back, but if the supporting cast is strong, he can take you to the playoffs, but he will likely never win a SB, so what do you do, because the Cowboys are going to draft pretty low and getting a replacement for Dak who is better, is not realistic, so they are stuck with him.
