Alex Smith mentions are funny because Alex Smith got like 100 games of terrible play as a starter, but Dak gets 2 and now there's a discussion on getting rid of him. Hilarious.

Hardly terrible. Just a bit meh to decent. Opposite of bell curve.

Are you joking?

Alex Smith's passer ratings for his first three seasons in the NFL:

40.8, 74.8, 57.2

Dak's passer rating this year, in a down season, is 87.6, a number that Smith didn't top until his 6th season.

What would Russell Wilson's 2013 season have looked like if Marshawn Lynch had missed half the year and the defense regressed considerably from 2012?
That's, more or less, what Dak is dealing with. You have to give a young QB, no matter how he looks as a rookie, the opportunity to grow into his role at a reasonable pace. Dak is a victim of his rookie success, which, anyone who was watching attentively, could've told you was the product of being in an outstanding situation. Let's not act like, because he's struggling, he's suddenly a complete scrub and deserves to be replaced. He's a guy in his second year who's suddenly been thrust into a position for which he's not fully prepared.

Hell, even Tom Brady had his struggles in his 2nd year starting, under similar circumstances.

Dallas needed a complimentary receiver to Dez last season. They went hard to addressing their secondary and obviously not having that offensive line in tact since Zeke's injury has played a huge factor. This would likely be the same result if Goff lost Andrew Whitworth, Case Keemun lost Adam Thielen, or Matt Ryan losing Julio Jones/Alex Mack.

It’s almost like the first pick in the draft gets a longer leash than a 4th round draft pick

Carson Wentz was considered a year one flop and didn't really come off as an impressive player until a few weeks ago. Recent play is everything to some people.

What? Who said he was a flop last year?  He's a much better player now, but let's not play revisionist.

Dak isn't going to carry a team right now but replacing him is crazy to me. He's a 2nd year mid round pick who compliments the system well.

Imo, upgrades are needed at head coach, offensive coordinator, WR, TE, LG, and RT before you even begin discussing if Dak is the problem.

And that defense isn't helping their situation either...

A lot of people were not sold on his year one performance. I was not one of them, but there was certainly discussion on if he'd blossom into a quality QB.

Dak's rating this year is higher than Wentz's career rating.

Right now, who knows what will happen but you certainly don't give up, or even question your starting QB after a couple of rough games. It happens even under ideal situations. Give him time to adapt, he carried the offense at times last year so he can possibly be that kind of QB and you wait and see what kind of growth he has these next few games before you even start planning ahead.

Which has nothing to do with what I wrote. There are plenty of terrible busts. Dak in his 1st 20 some odd games has shown himself to be a significantly better QB than Alex Smith did in his 50. There is zero reason there should be any conversation about replacing Dak when one of the loses was against the best team in the NFL.

Fair enough, I'd argue that last 5 or seasons though he's been a viable option. A facilitator of a gameplan - which is what I see Dak as.

For real??

Can we not admit and put the egos  to the side and realise that all QBs need talent around them to flourish? And they need adjustments to ensure that they're in a better position to succeed?

Give Brady no time, deprive him of weapons that can get open and see what he looks like? We already saw that with Rodgers. A QB can only do so much.
