2023 Off-season Talk

Also I want to point out another glowing endorsement of the coaching staff. I was listening to the can’t wait podcast during the spring and Connor Hughes said he heard from people out there that they compared how the Jets practices and approached the week vs how the Lions were doing it and you can see why the Jets are headed in one direction and the Lions the other. Essentially Jets are on the way up and the Lions are a joke.

Jets start 7-4, Lions 1-6 hmm maybe there’s some truth to that. However you don’t see the Lions players saying much of anything about their bad habits, just putting their heads down and working. And then it clicks. Jets on the other hand have a 2nd year guy request a trade during the win streak, 2nd year QB then starts getting all this blame, rookie WR pouting on the field, calling out guys and coaches about our practice habits, free agent TE criticizes our staff as well.

Then game day. Lions win because of aggressive play calling, Jets lose because our coach doesn’t know how to use his timeouts(though Zach was also blamed for this loss but I digress).

Jets finish on a 6 game losing streak giving the Dolphins, who started a 7th round 3rd stringer, a red carpet to the playoffs while the Lions finish 8-2 and knock out the Packers, who started a Hall of Fame Quarterback(Jets and Zach beat him as well but you know people didn’t care about that after a while).

In short all these glowing reports from the spring and all this nonsense means nothing when reality is we get on the field and perform that way. 7-10 is unacceptable, 7-9 had guys wanting Gase fired after year 1. 7-10 with this talent and a 6 game losing streak, coaches and players getting called out, practice habits being criticized by multiple players. If Rex is coaching this team the circus label is all over the place.

What are some hot OC and OL coach names?

OC: Joe Brady, Gary Kubiak, Frank Reich, Todd Monken

Haven't looked into it much, so all big names. I really want to see them bring in a legitimate offensive staff, regardless of what we do at OC.

What developmental players figure to have a bigger role next year?

I think Sherwood deserves a shot and depending on the DL moves this offseason I think Smart may get more play.

I’m impartial on cutting Lawson. It’s expensive but I wouldn’t mind if he went into a Huff role while Huff’s snaps increase. Clemons and JJ are forced against the run so having two rush specialists would be nice.

as a georgia fan i don't see monken leaving there.  he's making a good bit of money - highest paid assitant in CFB.  the only 1 i see as a real possibility is Brady - kubiak and reich i don't see wanting to come to the NYJ to be an OC.

True lol, just threw the name out there cause he’s gonna be the hot coordinator candidate. Funny thing is he coached under Gase in Miami. Look at the Gase offense.

Perfect.  Hire Gase to be his special advisor.  Whatever he says,  Ben does the opposite.   That should work. lol

The first thing to do is fire the OC. The DC will stay because they improved so much from last year to this year. I think it is the biggest jump in NFL history for a D to from 32 in the league to a top 5 D. So you really can't fire the DC for that.

I think Joe Brady comes in as the OC. He has learned from his mistakes. The QB I want is Baker. He would be a great fit here. He had a few months with McVey (Who I think is stepping away from the rams becasue he knows they are done for a long time. It cost them years of being in the bottom to win a super bowl.) I would have Baker come in and fight Wilson for the job. Let Brady make the decision on who wins the battle. I think Baker wins and would probably get him arouns a 2 year deal about 30 mill. I would then go after Will Rodgers from Miss St. You can grab him with the 6th round pick of the draft. If he sits for a few years he could be the starter if Baker can't handle it in 2 years. Becton has been doing really well in his rehab training from reports. I think Becton comes in as LT and plays at a pro bowl level. I think Sauce and GW get in his ear and tell him they need him bad. This young core wants to win now period. We final have a room full of hungrey young kids that want to win.

How much??

Aaron Donald money is what he wants and will get. I think we need to sign him ASAP. Don't fool around we have a great DT that can do it all and is very young still. I like to sign him to a 5 year deal 125 mill deal which is about 25 mill a year.  You have to do this ASAP and not fool around. I would be talking to hi right now. You have the money because you don't have that QB eating up all the cap space then you add the cap is going up so to get him at this deal I think would be great for both sides.

If Kliff Kingsbury is out in Arizona I want gim as the OC. He goes to the top of my list over Joe Brady. If I was Saleh I tell him you handle all the play calling on the O and tell me what you want for a QB.

Wouldn't surprise me if he goes back to  NCAA
