Don’t think this is realistic given the optics. Also has huge potential to blow up in his face.

I think we do something bigger than Darnold tbh. But at least bringing in a guy liker Darnold has the potential to be franchise QB. Everyone else is pretty much a band aid.

I think a band aid is actually what they’re looking for, but who knows at this point.

I agree in theory that we're looking for a vet above average type guy and keep Wilson as the potential.

It's just a matter of who that vet is. I just don't like the idea of Tannehill here. I can see it for sure happening... but that doesn't mean I'll like it.

I'm starting to think the jets will make a move out of no where. This could be a Brock Purdy trade to the Jets, or a guy like Carson Wentz. Purdy knows the system and does really well. I think the 49ers are still on the Lance train. Carson Wentz was in Phil when JD was there. I hate the Wentz thing but I see the conection. The 49ers could shop Purdy for some draft capital and collect some of the lost picks for the Lance deal.

Far fetched but if things go sour in contract talks with Lamar…….. which some reports are that they might. Just not a fan of paying a running QB that’s not a great passer long term. He’s a bad injury away from relying on his arm and his game goes to crap.

I can't believe Jets have not yet to fire Benton.

Why?  He had to work with third stringers along the ever changing OL.  Personally, I think he did a fantastic job with the **** he had to work with.  Before blaming him for a crap OL, lets see what he does with, you know, actual starting caliber players.

I would stay far away from Lamar Jackson. There’s also the question of why the Ravens would let a “franchise QB” go over only money. If they don’t resign him, they obviously have reservations about his play or health. He’s only getting older and mileage is going up. They are a smart franchise, best to stay away.

I'm not a Jackson fan either so I hope we do pass on him but like most people said I hate the running QB first thing. You have to be able to throw the ball with pin point ball placement to make it in the league period. I think Stetson Bennett is not a bad idea in the late rounds or UDFA.

Hypothetically if I am the owner of the Jets and having missed the past 12 years of just making it to the playoffs then I don't think I want to give the current coaching staff a vote of confidence after losing the last 6 games of the season. I would have to look at all the positives of the past year, then make my evaluation.

MFL would definitely be on the next train out of town, Saleh is coaching for his job this year. If he wants to keep it, he had better add an OC or at the minimal an experienced OC hired as an AOC to MFL.

JD cannot be held responsible for the injuries incurred by the OL and he has had his share of missteps in his years in N.Y., but on the whole I think he has done a good job. Not an excellent job, but a good job. Without a doubt JD and his staff hit it out of the park in this years draft.

But here is a cautionary note, we cannot go into the season hoping our OL stays healthy, that our RB who was having a lights out year will return to form. If there is one area I think JD has whiffed on has been the OL.

Unfortunately we need fresh legs on the OL and we have signed too many FA OL to the team and they have been mediocre at best. Becton is a knee twist away from missing 3 years in a row, currently he hasn't played in 2 years.

So going into the 2023 offseason we need to know if we're moving on from Moore and Mims and if the answer is yes, what can we get in return. So this is another position of need we may have to address as well as what to do with Davis.

Our weakest position group is the OL, come draft day JD has to address the need UNLESS of some freak drafting pattern there is a top 3 rated pick fall to the Jets then I could understand going another direction. But even then I would draft down and pick up more draft capitol.

So with the 2023 draft the Jets have to draft unless they sign some FA's. T,C,RB/WR, S, LB.

We can't go year by year filling holes with guys who are too old, too slow, or at this stage in their career injury prone.

I'm struggling with the idea of JD being fired if we don't make the playoffs.

We're just coming away from one of the best draft classes I've ever seen. If Hall stayed healthy and JJ was a full-time starter, we're talking 2 picks contending for OROY and 2 picks contending for DROY. That is amazing. If JD pull a good vet QB and hits on another draft class, he should be safe. We'll just need new coaches. He has a chance to correct his misses this offseason.

I agree and I think this is actually likely to happen if we slightly miss. Woody even gave Mikey Mac two HCs. Tannenbaum got 2 HCs. Idzik doesnt even count that was just horrendous. Bradway got Groh and Herm although Groh was really Parcells. If we were to fire Joe Douglas he would be hired by the Dolphins in a split second and we would regret it for a decade.

Agreed.

I forgot how many had 2 GMs. I believe he's going to find the right QB this offseason. I think a lot of QBs are going to be moving around. Someone is going to find their Drew Brees and someone will find their Geno/Tannehill/Jimmy G.
