So I’m assuming this may be the end of Vin Marino who was the cap specialist?

I never really felt like Vin was a problem. We had always been in good cap situation until this past season. We always had an out after 2 years or something like that.

Only benefit would be that he could probably come in cheaper.

I personally always liked Carr, but it wouldn't by my choice.

He might be slightly cheaper (but probably not much given how easy we could shed $20 million off of Tannehill’s 2023 number), but you’re also then making a much bigger long-term commitment to average to slightly above average QB play.

Yeah. It would be less than ideal. double digit TO's the last two years.

He is almost Tannehill if he threw the ball 40 times a game. Might as well keep Tannehill if we going to sign Carr.
Unless they truly believe he can be salvaged.
He is an older QB, I'd rather start over.

That would be a monumentally stupid move.

I would understand if we had nothing. Or if Dobbs and Willis were only ones on the roster. Even then I'd rather draft someone.

But again, I think he still has some good in him. I wouldn't hate the move. Just not my chosen path.

We’d still have to pay Tanny’s dead money.

We would be paying significantly more to swap out Tanny for Carr.

From my understanding that's not how the Dead money works. But I'm not a cap guy.

It's not like you paying double.

It’s not paying double, it’s paying a portion of his salary whether he’s on the roster or not.

So unless Carr signs for less than the amount we save by cutting Tanny ($17 mil iirc), which he won’t, then we pay more for Carr than we would for Tannehill.

Unless I’m just missing something.
