2023 Off Season / Draft Thread

I'd throw in Edge as a top need. We have solid depth there, but we lack an alpha. Agreed on all other needs. CB is the one position I'd like to see the Falcons address in the draft versus free agency. Tons of talent there in the first three rounds. All other positions I think it just depends. Starting RT is obviously a big need to fill. WR is probably one position we look to add a FA/two and draft one/two.

Wouldn't mind something like this:

- Bring back McGary; I was for letting him walk but if the price is right I don't mind bringing him back

- Sign a WR like DJ Chark; honestly you could replace him with your flavor of choice

- Go DE/CB rounds 1/2; think Christian Gonzalez/Anudike-Uzomah or Tyree Wilson/Forbes (any number of combinations here)

- Target a WR in round 3

NFC South is up for grabs. Love what Terry has cooking.

Completely concur with this. Chark is high on my wishlist

Also, let's bring back Wilkinson.

McGary back on a team friendly deal. I like it.

Unless we pull a shocker, this almost certainly "locks" us in at getting a DL or CB at 8. A draft lock meaning it's not really a lock at all. Regardless, we haven't really had this pre-draft clarity in quite awhile.

Assuming Anderson and Carter are off the board, the three most likely are Wilson, Witherspoon, or Gonzalez. Then you have the Murphy/Van Ness/Smith trio if the Falcons fall in love with someone, you never know.

This is nice. Real nice.

Slay just got cut 👀

We're getting Darius Slay...ton.

Slayton was rumored to be weighing offers from the Giants and Falcons. Parris Campbell just signed with the Giants, so hopefully this means Slayton is coming. He was someone I thought would be a great fit here. 6'1 with speed, perfect complement to London. Only 26 and has posted three 700 yards seasons in 4 seasons with the Giants.

Isaiah Oliver went to the 9ers. Another wasted 2nd round pick smh, thanks TD.

I liked Oliver. Here's what I posted in the 49ers forum the other day. Not exactly what you're hoping for out of a 2nd round pick in terms of production, but I wouldn't call it a wasted pick in the slightest. He was picked at the tail end of the 2nd round too, 58th overall, where you're going to start to see a dip in pick success rate. Oliver's issue has been staying healthy, but he seemed to find his groove at NCB once Peas came onboard.

You guys will like Oliver. I couldn't think of a better landing spot for him either. Had a solid rookie campaign, then struggled the next couple of years. He started coming into his own in the nickel in 2021 under Dan Pees. Unfortunately he had a season-ending injury that year, but came back strong this year with his best season. He's not a ballhawk, but he does everything else well. By all accounts a great teammate too.

He was a subpar NFL player for the 1st 3 years of his career, and we only had him for a grand total of 16 games by the time he figured some things out and carved out a nice little role for himself. Hopefully he plays a lot for the 9ers and we get a comp pick for his departure, but I admittedly know nothing of how compensatory picks are assigned. So, as of now, it was definitely a bad 2nd round pick, like most TD's 2nd round picks were. Doesn't mean Oliver can't have a nice NFL career, but we got very little regarding a return on our investment.
