Due diligence and all that, but there is only 1 of those guys they can't hire right now, and it is almost mid-February. I’ve heard Callahan is the most likely to be the next head coach. If that is for sure they are going to have to announce soon because the NFL doesn’t want them to announce it right before the “Big Game” Sunday to steal the spotlight. If it is Steichen then it for sure has to wait.

LuckyNumber11
Somewhat potentially worth noting I guess that Kafka’s second interview is over zoom and Anarumo’s is in person

I do think he’s past the point of getting a shot, but we see plenty of coaches reject interviews and job offers. Sucks for him really. Based on merits, he's more than deserving of a shot. Based on how long it's been since his various issues, he deserves a shot. 20 years ago, he probably gets one. But in 2023 and beyond? The issues are unfortunately the type of issues that attract a ton of negative press and somehow manage to keep doing so years later (regardless of the actual facts, however one may view them). That being said, he seems to have found quite a home in KC. Anyone thought maybe he's content to wait out Reid's retirement and shoot his shot there with the offense he helps oversee? Not sure if there are any rumblings of retirement from Reid, just a thought.

Continuity between HCs is a vastly underrated aspect of successful teams.

AFC East Miami Dolphins New York Jets AFC North Cincinnati Bengals Cleveland Browns AFC South Houston Texans Indianapolis Colts Jacksonville Jaguars AFC West Denver Broncos LA Chargers NFC East New York Giants Philadelphia Eagles NFC North Detroit Lions NFC South Atlanta Falcons Carolina Panthers New Orleans Saints Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFC West Arizona Cardinals Subtracting out the other 9 teams that haven't had a vacancy in the last 4 years: Titans - Vrabel Bills - McDermott Rams - McVay 49ers - Shanahan Chiefs - Reid Seahawks - Carroll Ravens - Harbaugh Steelers - Tomlin Patriots - Belichick That leaves just 6 teams that haven't even brought him in for an interview yet. Raiders - McDaniels Packers - LaFleur Commanders - Rivera Cowboys - McCarthy Bears - Eberflus Vikings - O'Connell And of those 6, more established guys landed in 3 of the 6 roles. LaFleur and O'Connell have led their teams to the playoffs. And Eberflus is solid. I think Bienemy is in that Mike Zimmer territory as an assistant. He's a good assistant, but he may never get that head coaching job until a team is like, "Screw it, it's time".

I’m still hoping that we can get Money Mike Kafka back in the building as heir apparent Matt Nagy would also be in the interview process I imagine

You have more insight than I do, so would be interesting to hear your thoughts.

It's not just that 17/26 teams that actually hired someone new in the last 9 years passed on Eric Bienemy - IIRC not a single team has offered a 2nd interview. No matter what kind of baggage you have, to not even get 1 single 2nd interview - just screams "bombed interview". At this stage, that's as much of an obstacle - along with the disaster performance by Matt Nagy in Chicago. I don't think it's a coincidence Bienemy is interviewing for other OC jobs - Kafka's interest this year is directly a result of him having success away from Andy Reid, and calling plays. Whether it's fair or not, Nagy's absolute catastrophic tenure at CHI probably casts a dark shadow over any Reid OC - how much is it Reid/Mahomes, and the other guys are along for the ride? If you succeed elsewhere, then there's interest. Have to believe that's what is driving Bienemy's interest to move on as well, seeing the route Kafka took. I think he's the Rooney guy every year because after he interviews once, he's just being shown the door. That or he's a terrible interview and people are considering him and giving someone else the job. Texans interviewed AND hired 3 separate minority coaches over him which gives me the thought that's it's more him than him be a rooney guy though.
