Or because he has a troubling past with serious legal trouble...

But the teams knew that bringing him in. It’s probably my held against him in some circles, but it’s hard to imagine a world where he’s either not a terrible interview or is just the go-to Rooney guy (which would also be a waste of time for the organization). If the history alone was what’s scaring teams off, then why even bring him in?

I think it’s probably a combo of both, where he doesn’t really blow anyone’s socks off enough to the point where they think “okay, this guy’s worth the [perceived] risk.”

Curious as to why you feel Kafka would be a better choice over Bieniemy. You have more insight than I do, so would be interesting to hear your thoughts.

From an outside perspective, I think Kafka could be more appealing for a number of reasons:

1. He's 20 years younger than EB, could be there longer term

2. Hasn't been looked over for numerous HC jobs over a long period of time like EB

3. Showed that he could have success under a different HC, outside of KC unlike EB

I think the third point would be one of the biggest factors for me, we've seen a lot of guys fail that have only ever been in one coaching tree.

Are the Colts & Cardnals waiting to hire Steichen/Gannon after the SB?

Not sure why else it would take this long

That's my assumption. I don't see why else you would wait unless the coach you want is still in it and can't be hired yet. Are there any Chiefs coaches that are in the running for these openings?

The Colts angle makes sense.   For the Cards, they haven't even interviewed either guy.  That would be something else.   I think at this stage, they should already know which guy they want, but now probably don't want to announce it just before the SB.    That's the only other angle that makes any sense IMO.

Colts will hire Steichen and continue the seesaw between Philly and Indy. Reich to Colts, then Sirianni to Eagles, now Steichen to Indy. Next year one of our coordinators will end up going to Philly.

Marcus Brady went from Colts fired OC to Eagles as an advisor of some sort too this year

“Anyone who doesn’t want to coach the Cardinals because of Kyler Murray is soft and shouldn’t be a coach”

Welp…

If I'm being honest with myself... I'd prefer coaching Kyler over DisasteRUSS.

It’s a pretty awful proposition either way, lol.

I guess in Denver’s favor, at least Russ isn’t going to miss 2023 + have to get back to full speed in 2024. Veteran guy, probably will take to coaching at least better than I think Murray would. Shrug.

Ciara has pretty friends, too.

This is completely head-canon, but I firmly believe she oversees/contributes/talks up all of the cringe Russ puts out there. It’s only gotten worse over the years. I wouldn’t trust her.

It isn’t too late! Go to Arizona, Sean!
