We saw a lot of positives this year and seeing Jordan Love come in and show some real talent is extremely promising.

Offseason:

Trades:

Aaron Rogers wants to continue to play and provides Greenbay a list of teams he would be willing to be traded to.

Miami Dolphins trade a 2023 2nd round pick and a 2024 1st round pick.

Released:

David Bakhtiari: Awesome player and person.

Re - Signed

Robert Tonyan

Keisean Nixon

Yosh Nijman

Adrian Amos

Free Agents:

Andre Dillard - They would have traded him in the preseason if the offer was right. Let him walk, hope someone gives him a contract that qualifies for the comp pick formula, and take a real swing tackle somewhere in the draft.

 DT Daron Payne

Washington Commanders defensive tackle Daron Payne is next on a list of enticing interior defenders slated to hit the market. The 25-year-old has been one of Washington's most consistent defenders this season, tallying 29 tackles, 4.5 sacks and 13 quarterback pressures.

NFL Draft

  • Round 1, Pick 15 overall
  • Round 2, Pick 45 overall
  • Round 2 Dolphins pick around 55
  • Round 3, Pick 78 overall
  • Round 4, Pick 113 overall
  • Round 5, Pick 146 overall
  • Round 7, Pick 201 overall
  • Round 7, Pick 210 overall

Round 1, Pick 15 overall

Ohio State image Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State
Height: 6-0. Weight: 197.
Projected 40 Time: 4.45.
Projected Round (2023): 1.
View Ranking History

12/31/22: Smith-Njigba made just five catches for 43 yards in 2022. He missed most of the season with injuries.

6/23/22: Smith-Njigba had a fantastic 2021 season despite being the third receiver behind Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson. In 2021, Smith-Njigba caught 94 passes for 1,606 yards and nine touchdowns. He also put together an amazing Rose Bowl performance to lead a comeback win over Utah. There is no doubt Smith-Njigba has serious speed, athleticism, and playmaking ability to go along with decent size.

Round 2, Pick 45 overall

Washington image Jaxon Kirkland, OT/G, Washington
Height: 6-6. Weight: 318.
Projected 40 Time: 5.25.
Projected Round (2023): 2-3.
View Ranking History

1/7/23: Kirkland played well for Washington in 2022. He looks like a flexible blocker who could be a starting guard or tackle at the next level. For the NFL, his best fit could come at right tackle or right guard.

Round 2 Dolphins pick around 55

Northwestern image Cameron Mitchell*, S/CB, Northwestern
Height: 6-0. Weight: 195.
Projected 40 Time: 4.54.
Projected Round (2023): 1-2.
View Ranking History

1/7/23: Mitchell played really well in 2022 with blanket coverage. He recorded 52 tackles, one interception, seven passes batted, one forced fumble and one sack on the year. Mitchell has good size to go along with instincts and physicality. He also could have sufficient versatility to play safety as well as cornerback at the next level.

6/30/22: In 2021, Mitchell was a solid No. 2 corner for Northwestern, and he totaled 48 tackles and six passes defended. He has one interception over his college career and could use more ball production.

Round 3, Pick 78 overall

Iowa image Sam LaPorta*, TE, Iowa
Height: 6-3. Weight: 250.
Projected 40 Time: 4.69.
Projected Round (2023): 2-3.
View Ranking History

12/31/22: LaPorta has 53 receptions for 601 yards and a touchdown in 2022. A few pro team sources really like LaPorta and think he could be a nice value pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He is a touch undersized, but definitely has the ability to contribute as a receiving tight end at the next level.

Round 4, Pick 113 overall

USC image Andrew Vorhees, G/OT, USC
Height: 6-6. Weight: 325.
Projected 40 Time: 5.25.
Projected Round (2023): 3-5.
View Ranking History

1/7/23: Vorhees was a versatile blocker for the Trojans over the past three seasons starting at right guard, left guard and left tackle. He spent the majority of his starts at right guard. Vorhees has good size to him, and he is intelligent and tough. Playing guard looks like his best fit for the NFL.

Round 5, Pick 146 overall

Maryland image Dontay Demus Jr., WR, Maryland
Height: 6-3. Weight: 213.
Projected 40 Time: 4.48.
Projected Round (2023): 3-5.
View Ranking History

12/31/22: Demus recorded 22 receptions for 233 yards and a touchdown in 2022. He does not look like the same player since the knee injury he suffered in 2021.

6/23/22: Demus was producing really well for Maryland in 2021 before being carted off the field against Iowa in early October and going out for the season. The 6-foot-3, 213-pound Demus was on his way to being a first-rounder thanks to showing a special combination of size and speed prior to getting hurt. In 2021, he averaged 18.1 yards per catch over 28 receptions for a total of 507 yards and three touchdowns. He flashed big-play ability in 2020 (24-365-4), 2019 (41-625-6) and 2018 (13-278) as well. Team sources think he could have still been a second-round pick had he entered the 2022 NFL Draft, despite his torn ACL.

Round 7, Pick 201 overall

Clemson image B.T. Potter, K, Clemson
Height: 5-10. Weight: 190.
Projected Round (2023): 5-7.

View Ranking History

12/24/22: Potter is 18-for-21 thus far in 2022 with a long of 52 yards. Two of his misses came in the 40-49-yard range, where he is 5-of-7 thus far this season. The other miss was from beyond 50 yards.

  • Round 7, Pick 216 overall
Utah State image Logan Bonner, QB, Utah State
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 230.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.90.
    Projected Round (2023): 6-FA.
    View Ranking History

1/10/23: Bonner was superb in 2021, completing 61 percent of his passes for 3,628 yards, 36 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He was injured for a lot of 2022, but he has some arm talent to be a late-round sleeper in the 2023 NFL Draft.

I was reading that I we release him prior to June 1st it is a huge savings

Before June 1, you can save a shade under $6M releasing him. He will have a dead cap charge of $23M for 2023. I think he's proving he is still an elite player and the Packers would rather keep him in this case.

If you do it after June 1, you can save $17M this year and spread the dead cap hit on 2023 and 2024.

If you restructure his deal, you can save $7.8M or so on the cap this year. His cap number would still be a whopping $33M in 2024.

Better off looking for a trade partner.  Even if it only returns a 3rd or 4th round value.

Jaxson Kirkland is going back to school.

Are you sure? He's been at UW for 6 years. Everything I've ready shows him declaring.

I'm not a big JSN fan. Pretty pedestrian athlete to take in the mid 1st. I don't think he comes out and runs a surprise low 4.4s--like Justin Jefferson did. This is a pretty weak draft class at RB, WR, and OL. DL looks decent, and EDGE looks good.

My bad, you're right.  I must have mistook an older article for a newer one.
