BetterCallSaul
FYI, I don't view WR and backup QB as GAPING holes.

Bucketheadsdad
I know that as much as people think we need a "take the top off" burner at WR, the offense performed fairly well with the cast of characters that they had available in 2022. I honestly think adding a high dollar or high draft pick (as far as THOSE go for use over the next two years) at WR is a luxury that we probably cannot afford to pay. Our interior defense leaked far too much, and if the club is spending dollars this offseason, they've got to plug those holes first. IMHO. I'm not going to be surprised if we devote 3 of our limited draft picks this year on the front four. Especially with someone new calling the defense. Of course, maybe he finds the liquid schwartz, and is able to sprinkle it on Tommy Togiai, Perrion Winfrey and Jordan Elliott, and he turns all of them into princes. Not sure if Taven Bryan will be back with us next year. Even though we've got no 1st rounder, this makes things a bit more interesting, as opposed to us lamenting another year of Joe Woods bend (and keep on bending) approach to defense. DawgX
What about Hargrave at DT? Cox makes sense with his familiarity with Schwartz, but I've heard he's pretty washed at this point. Edited January 18 by DawgX
brownie man
Man love how you set up this post. I’m going to be watching draft prospects today. Hargrave gotta be on the list too. I’d rather have Payne but Hargrave is a solid additional option. I’ll make my picks once I watch more of the guys today. and I’m telling you Jessie Bates is realistic. Cut JJ3 and we can make room to sign him. Edited January 18 by brownie man
LETSGOBROWNIES
1 hour ago, BetterCallSaul said: DT:Realistic FA Options:-Matt Ioannidis this would probably be my favorite option based on value. He’s a decent starter who can add immediate respectability to the group. 1 hour ago, BetterCallSaul said: -Mazi Smith (2nd-3rd) -Keaanu Benton (3rd-4th) Either of these dudes. Pair them with a FA and the let’s see what Winfrey, Togiai and Phillips can can do. Something like that would be my preference at DT.

That said, he and Daron Payne would be out of my acceptable price range, TBH. 1 hour ago, DawgX said: Cox makes sense with his familiarity with Schwartz, but I've heard he's pretty washed at this point. Yeah I agree that he's well beyond his prime. He's now a baseline starter without much flair. That said, we need one of those. If he could come cheap, he'd be a nice addition. A solid vet presence or 8 were sorely needed on this team last season, especially on the defense.

BetterCallSaul
48 minutes ago, LETSGOBROWNIES said: I’d burn a 3rd on Harrison and bet on the natural talent. Yeah he's intriguing. He's a bull rusher that plays well against the run. Has no pass rush plan, but that can be developed. 48 minutes ago, LETSGOBROWNIES said: They’re fine. Should be cheap and can play the run. Yeah all we need really is a LBer that understands how to fit the run correctly. We don't need Luke Kuechley. I want a dude that knows when to scrape vs. filling vs. dropping. Basically, the anti-Deion Jones. 48 minutes ago, LETSGOBROWNIES said: Id probably be looking at a day 3 guy. The LB class is absolutely awful IMO. Especially as far as depth is concerned. I have like 5 draftable LB's in this class. Abysmal is an understatement, despite some intriguing players towards the top 3 rounds. 48 minutes ago, LETSGOBROWNIES said: I’d be interested in Deion Jones coming back on a one year deal tbh. He played well all things considered. I thought he was atrocious. He's talented, but his run fits were so jacked up that it's not even funny. I've never seen a professional linebacker get pinned inside on power plays more in my life. He either was taught to purposefully eat blocks with his inside arm free (wrong) or is just a moron. 48 minutes ago, LETSGOBROWNIES said: I’d pick Bell out of this group as he’s older, more experienced and will perhaps cost less. Yeah he'd likely be a better fit as a player compared to even Jesse Bates, to be honest. Regardless of money. 48 minutes ago, LETSGOBROWNIES said: If we sign a vet I’m looking at day 3 for a backup/developmental guy. Another positional group that sucks nards. I can't find more than 4 safety prospects that I would consider drafting based on where they're slotted to go. Branch, Battle, Joseph, Ronnie Hickman, and Demarco Hellams are all solid picks, but there's nothing outside of them. And we don't need Battle or Hellams, as they're redundant to what we have. Basically, I think this draft class blows. I need to look at the small school cats more, but the talent after the 3rd round is bare.
