Most teams have their obvious #1, but who's #2?

Gonna float some names without ranking them necessarily myself.

Top tier:

DK Metcalf/Tyler Lockett
Tee Higgins
Devonta Smith
Jaylen Waddle
Keenan Allen/ Mike Williams
Godwin

Next tier:

Hollywood Brown
Gabe Davis
Courtland Sutton
Brandon Aiyuk
Donovan Peoples-Jones
Diontae Johnson/George Pickens
Adam Thielen

I think its hilarious that DK is on this list. I remember getting into huge Deebo >> DK arguments after their rookie season. Glad that is settled now, everyone told me I was crazy.

I will say that he has improved his route running tremendously since that time, and he no longer is a glorified one trick pony. He is still not a top tier WR in my eyes though because I value route running extremely highly and he is still not polished in that regard.

I think Hollywood and Aiyuk deserve to be in the top tier. Hollywood was clearly unhappy in BAL with Roman calling plays. I bet if they fired him last offseason that Hollywood would still be in BAL right now. This year he was producing but then got hurt. He is a tier 1 WR2 imo.

Aiyuk is a budding superstar who just does not get the target volume to be recognized nationally in the manner in which he should. He is one of the best route runners in the league, is electric with the ball in his hands, and might be one of the best run blockers in the league. Absolute dawg as well. The breakout is coming very soon, if he isnt in the midst of it already. He is in the same tier as Waddle to me, which is saying something because I am very high on waddle.

I mean, I could make the case that Deebo should be on this list because I think Aiyuk is just a better receiver (he is, but Deebo obviously is just a special talent with the ball in his hands that just more than makes up for that)

I really don't think anything is settled between DK and Deebo....Deebo had a lights out season last year, no doubt. DK had a lights out season the year before. The other two years they've been relatively comparable (well, Deebo has less bulk stats this year because of the missed games, but their per game rate stats are similar).

I don't think that there's anything that really supports the notion that one is better than the other. Doesn't help that they don't play a remotely similar game.

I was gonna say, Aiyuk feels like the #1 in that offense, just based off his role. Deebo is obviously spectacular in his role, but he’s not your conventional #1.

Aiyuk is the receiver that they would have to go to if they needed to straight up beat man coverage.

I've said it before, but Aiyuk would almost certainly be the guy that I would pick to just have a Stefon Diggs style blow up at some point (whether that's because of a new team, or roster turnover on the niners, etc). He ultimately may not be that good even if given the chance that Diggs got (pretty sure that his hands aren't as good, has been as much of a scoring threat), but it wouldn't surprise me if he had that kind of jump

Do you think he gets extended by SF?

Yes, without a doubt

Nice, it's been good to see him bounce back this year. I took a chance on him in fantasy last year when he was in the dog house and he fumbled the punt against the Colts, lol.

Hollywood got the 9th most targets in the NFL in his last season with the Ravens, and I don't think he's ever going to see that volume again in his career. He just kind of is what he is at this point and that's a good #2 imo but not top tier

Why wouldn't he have a similar workload next year without DHop on the team?
