Nbanflguy
Mr. Irrelevant is one game away from being the youngest QB to ever start a Super Bowl. The media narrative is all about this awesome under dog story and in a way they are right.. but doesn’t this also show the giant errors teams make every year in scouting? This underdog was a high school star and 4 year starter in the Big 12. Owns all of Iowa State’s school passing records. Then the NFL takes a look and decides that is arm is too weak, he’s too small, and he’s not athletic enough. Just ignoring that he has been arguably the best football player on every field he has ever stepped on his whole life up to this point with those exact same traits. Maybe what a player does playing actual 11 on 11 games in full pads for the first 21-23 years of their lives should be weighed more then what a scout likes watching them in shorts one weekend in March. ninjapirate
Outliers should never change your process. Although if you do like a QB you should always draft him.
adamq
I think he's still a mediocre QB, but Kyle and this offense will elevate that kind of player to someone who can consistently win games. Just look at Jimmy G. Even Nick Mullens put up some gawdy numbers and flashy games with less talent than Brock is working with... I'd pump the brakes on over-drafting QBs with such limited upside just because of this run 5 minutes ago, Nbanflguy said: Just ignoring that he has been arguably the best football player on every field he has ever stepped on his whole life up to this point That is just ridiculous. Hall was just one of the players on ISU better than Brock
Forge
I mean, not really? It's not like he was great in college. He was fine. He never really got that much better, either. Hell, as a senior he got benched in a game. The NFL graveyard is littered with guys just like him. He's playing on a team with top 2 skill positions, one of the best offensive minds in football and the fact is that if he's actually good independent of that, he's still just an outlier.
offbyone
Maybe in the fact that nfl qbs aren't all at the top of the draft. They also sit in the middle and the bottom. They just often don't get the opportunity the qbs in the first group do.
Geezy
Product of his situation for the most part. He’s made some plays, I just don’t see him taking an average team to the playoffs. 9ers are loaded and Shanahan is running one of the most QB friendly offenses in the league.
