Watching QB movement from team to team...

Based on things said and not said during the league meetings, two viable candidates emerged for Lamar Jackson.

One of them can now be scratched off the list. The Colts and Patriots hadn’t slammed the door, unlike most if not all other potentially interested teams. Via Jeff Howe of TheAthletic.com, the Patriots are not interested.

That list was pretty obviously created for social media engagement.

He must have suffered several concussions during his time in the NFL with such nonsense.  As a Chicagoan, I can understand having some bias towards the Bears (even though he never played for them), but this one is a little overboard.

Brian Hoyer went to LV.

More backup QB movement!

The fact that Hoyer is even still in the league is amazing in itself.  He was signed by the Patriots the year after the Pats had drafted KOC and beat him out in training camp in '09 (and he's only about 5 months younger than him).   Not to mention that Hoyer was Cousins' predecessor at Michigan State (they spent the '08 season together).

Via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, Teddy Bridgewater has a deal on the table from the Lions. He also reportedly has interest from several teams.

Per Fowler, Bridgewater has decided to take his time. Per common sense, if there was a great offer available currently, Bridgewater would be more likely to take it than to wait for the draft, when an interested team might end up filling the QB2 spot with a rookie.

NFL Network’s Peter Schrager revealed that he was told by those not in either the Jets or Packers buildings that New York was unwilling to give up their 2023 first and second round picks for Aaron Rodgers. Schrager did say, however, that the Jets would be willing to give up a future first round pick that was conditional:

“I was told from people not in either building that the Jets were looking to make a trade where it would not involve the first round pick, it would not involve both of the second-round picks, and it would involve a future first that was conditional, meaning ‘we gotta get something out of Rodgers, we can’t just get one year or a commitment to one season, there’s gotta be some sort of multiple-season commitment which a first-round pick is then triggered. If that two years or one-and-a-half years or whatever starts are required are not hit, then it remains a second- or third-round pick or whatever that is.”

Let’s just say that the Packers and Jets are basically in a never-ending stare down, looking to see who blinks first and caves in to accept a trade. As of this writing, neither side has budged, with the debate of “who actually holds the leverage” continues.

I hope the Jets realize they have the leverage. Rodgers already knows the system. He doesn't have to show up for OTAs and all of that to be effective. Moreover, if the Packers wait too long, then the Jets can just roll with Wilson and draft high in 2024. The ultimate card to play is Rodgers showing up and half-assing it to collect a paycheck. A massive, fully guaranteed paycheck.

Frankly, at this point, the Jets should say "here's what we're offering...at this time next week, the picks we're offering go down a round. A week after that, it goes down another round. You get the point. FAFO."
